You know you've hit a bunch of costumers when they'er seeing a handsome Jedi, they'er discussing the clothing construction not the guy. HEHEHEH :-D What's a "Felled" seam? I can barely see it. I agrees with you there!! ;D

Ah, yes, we're only here for the clothes.
A felled seam is like what you have on blue jeans. First one seam is sewn, then one edge of the fabric is folded over and sewn on top of that. It creates a fairly distinctive double line of stitching that you can see under Obi-Wan's arm. However, it looks like the fold is on the inside of Obi-Wan's tunic (unlike the fold being on the outside, like with blue jeans). It's a nice way to finish off a seam because there are no raw edges that can fray.

Ahem... yes, well back on track...
I think that maybe they couldn't break free of the cuffs because neither of them had perfected the trick. They were under the gun (literally) in that arena scene, and maybe manipulating lock components with the Force took more concentration than either of them was able to muster at the time.

got the answer to this one from the AOTC visual dictionary (or the like) my son got it from the library for us to read together. The cuffs used on Geonosis apparently were fixed in place and welded shut. the picture lists points at where they could be welded sealed...........

I assume they only used the "welded shut" cuffs on Obi-Wan and Anakin. Otherwise Padme couldn't have gotten out of them the way she did.

Now that makes much more sense. They would have to use special cuffs for the Jedi. They wern't worried about Padme

"Pulse lock points weld hasp tight." But it has an electronic release mechanism... I guess that must be the part that attaches to the chain...

Humm breaking out of welded cuffs would be difficult but not impossible. Jedi can squeeze out of cuffs too. The 'bone bending' ability. Another way to get a hand out of welded cuffs is to fold the thumb in front of the palm of the hand,, hold the cuff with the oipposite hand and pull it out.(hand that is), do the same with the other trapped hand. I know this works.

Can only the jedi do that?

I never heard it called bone bending ability, but I know what you mean.
I know that total relaxation can allow you to slip out of things like that...
I've read that in other types of fiction before, and I think that's the way escape artists do some of their stunts.

I've never heard of bones being flexible enough to allow you to get out of things unless you're a toddler. But I remember reading somewhere that Houdini could dislocate both his shoulders to get out of straight jackets.

Some forms of internal martial arts that have to do with the body's 'energy'. How to make it move to differant parts or in some circumstances, away from the body to knock things down. It's called "Empty force". No joke. The internal martial arts asissts in the bone bending thing. The role play book writters must have bene reading about martial arts because bone sofening is mentioned as a jedi skill a padawan is capable of doing.

Oh, ok... I wondered where it was mentioned in the SW universe... RPG sourcebook?
I have heard of "Empty Force". We studied a similar thing in Aikido.
