I noticed that while watching rots that Palpatine's saber is very elegant and so is Dooku's. As well as the way that they dress.(example in visual guide ep3 dooku's rare rancor skin leather boots). This is just more evidence that sith are very selfish and only care about themselves. while the jedi whose lightsabers are simple in appearance (save Mace Windu) as well as their attire. so there you have it

I think it depends on the person... Darth Maul was hardly wearing the most stylish of clothes, and other than the uniqueness of his double bladed lightsaber, it was hardly in the same league as Palpatine's or Master Windu's

Tanzan may be right - Dooku was also a Count by inheritance and was very rich or had large resources to draw from. Dooku probably dressed very differently when he was still in the Jedi order. Dooku may have dressed like a normal Jedi for a long time

Anyone notice that Dooku's costume and Luke's in ROTJ are nearly the same?
Maybe hanging out with a princess got Luke dressing that way for a while.

Even Palpatine had somewhat simplitisic clothing colorwise. Maybe, like Jedi, the Sith express themselves through the weapon of their trade. Nothing in the jedi code says one can't make the saber look 'fancy'.

Nothing in the jedi code says one can't make the saber look 'fancy'. That's possible, I think a lightsaber is the only individual thing a Jedi is allowed to actually own.

Yes I believe so too. I think in one of the books when anakin was made Jedi Knight he gave pademe his padawan braid as he didn't own anything else.

It was shown in the episode of the Clone Wars when he was made a Knight, and was a really touching scene, made moreso as she put the braid in a box with the pendant he gave her in TPM
