Looks good! Unfortunately the dark colored robes don't show up well in the photos. The middle one looks best. How do they feel to wear?

I think the lighter brown melton looks really good, partly because it's the best photo, but they all look very good. I think the lighter colour might be the best with your skintones. They look as though you've done a really nice job on the lot of them.

Thank you. The melton robes are a bit heavy in wgt but since I've gotten them done not too bad, I was plesantly surprised. When I was working on them they felt like they weighed a ton when they were in pieces. I'll admit I'm not sure which one is my favorite, I like dark colors but I'll have to see when I wear them, I figure they will work really well when it's very cool or if the air conditioning is too high (like at DC). Both of the melton robes have no seam in the shoulder--I was curious to see if I could do it that way. It takes a lot of fabric but it is easier to make.
Does anybody have any ideas where you can find a decent light wgt washable fabric in chocolate brown? ponte is not made in that color any more

Aaaaaah! I made a robe out of that. Lovely color and I made a nice full robe with inside pockets out of it -- definitely what I'd call a 'security-blanket' Jedi robe. I want to bring it to DragonCon, but only for the indoor, heavily air-conditioned hotels. Outside, in the Atlanta summer heat is not a great place for a Jedi robe.

Thank you most humbly for your compliment about my robes. Thank you also for the compliment about being a seamstress. Please believe me I'm no seamstress. My husband used to say when I made up my mind, I do it & that's just about what happened & the force was with me. If I want to do something bad enough I make up my mind to get it done. The basic robe pattern I got from the padawans guide & then looked at the tutorials, plus I did use the Simplicity pattern I think it's 4450, but I'm not sure, it's been awhile since I looked at the package. I also asked lots of questions from those here in TJA that have more seamstress experience then me. I made many mistakes.
The melton wool robes both have no shoulder seams--I was curious to see if I could do it. It takes a lot of material but I found out it's a very easy robe to put together. I did find that I had to do a lot of hand stitching to do.
;D I love being Jedi & wearing Jedi clothes. I had to challenge myself to do ithis. It turned out to be a very happy, satisfying challenge.
