My hood is as big as the screen ones. Silly thing slids right off my head too.LOL
I'm thinking of hidding a peice of suead that's the same color as the fabric so it'll stay up. It'll be ina palce so it'd not be seen when the hood is down.

hmmmmmm.....what is that detail at the top of the sleeve....looks like it is folded over and sewed at the top of the shoulder? Yeah teh shoulder tuck they decided he needed Personally on the robe I think its tacky....looks much better without it

I'm not to keen on the shoulder tuck either.
My robe hasn't the tuck and it looks good even with the huge hood.:-D

lol....and I like the tuck...
I just started the sewing together of my newest robe...and I am looking closely at the hood before I put it on....the pattern had me cut out the hood on the fold so there is no seam....but I think the hood is a little skimpy now that I look at those gorgeous photos of Obi-Wan.....since I have plenty of the wool left...I may try to put a custom hood together...one that is much larger...
thanks again for the photos..

The dimentions I gave in one of my previous posts in this thread seem to be Obi-Wan like dimentions (am I spelling that right?) Larger may work out for you, but depending how you want the hood. Forinstance I cannot really wear the larger hood well, but I can...its 1 meter, but its still wearable....but its huge. (It rained hard that day, and we were in a parade...so yeah throughly soaked)

Give me a few minutes and I'll make comparison photos! I wanted to add this last night but my photo host was down for maintenance. here's me with the hood up OK, I scurried around and got a photo of the SCA cloak hood: I think Primrodo's hood looks good.

I love the big hoods, I think they look great. I have to go check something out, be right back. Went and took a good look at the photos of the robe with the tucked shoulders, not bad, it looks a little more formal.

Well....those pictures have convinced me...I need to make my new robe hood bigger...I like the look of the larger hood...but not too big.... that is my next piece to sew onto my wool robe...so I better get busy trying to modify....will have to make the modification out of muslin first...then attach to the robe with pins and see how it looks......

Pau-Sol,
Maybe the tailor could help you pin a new seam line to test the size of the hood before cutting. If your hood is 24 inches and the hood of my cloak is about 12, then try pinning it at 18-20 inches and see how you like it. If you don't then adjust the pinned seam line until you find a size you like.
