I know that all black costumes aren't allowed, my own was rejected because I might have been mistaken for a Sith Lord, but I'm curious as to the amount of black (if any) that is allowed in a costume... At the moment, I have an idea for modifying my original costume, but I'd like to know how much black is acceptable, because I'd hate to order something I couldn't use... My costume is based on Anakin's in Ep II, and at the moment, I admit that it is all black except for the robe (which is brown) However... I was thinking of getting a new tunic and dying it a terracotta brown, and then wearing it with the pants, boots, obi and synthetic leather tabbards I already have (all black) Would this be acceptable, or would it still be too 'dark'? If so, I could always dye a pair of pants the same brown, and would that then be okay instead? Also, I'm planning on ordering a cloak like Anakin's in Ep II rather than a robe, and I've been told I can have it made in black or dark brown... I'm tempted to have a black one, as that would be more fitting with the rest of my costume (especially if the only other black parts were the boots, obi and tabbards) but I'd hate to order it and thenbe told that it wasn't acceptable for being black (I could of course simply not wear it for my profile pictures...) Any help and advice is greatfully received

Far as I know... no black is acceptable to be a Jedi...even Anakin doesn't wear black.

I agree. Anakins tabards, boots and glove are black in all of the Episode III photos I have seen.

His glove and boots are definitely not black, but I am pretty certain that his tabbards are... are you sure Justin? I know youve researched your Anakin costume as thoroughly as is possible, so I might have to take your word for it, I'm just going by the CIII pics

Definatly not a spec of black on him aside from the gloves straps... Boots: Glove: Tabards only appear a crispy black...in person you could definatly see they were brown without distortion from the flashes etc. Heres two that look relitily unmolested by harsh flashes: And for final reference sake, me at C3 with dark BROWN tabards, which look black pending on camera, lighting and any other condidtions: The last ones are deep brown vinyl...but I love the picture The tabards are not black, just a common misconception. Now they are a dark brown, and you can see that in the majority of the pictures. Besides if they were black you would never see any detail like we see now based on the colour alone. Yes I've done tonnes of reasearch, but doesn't make me always right, just usually ...though it was nice to have all the "black" supporters in the costume were dismayed that the C3 one was all browns...especially because it was the Mustafar version, the last one in the film...for those that thought they started making him wear black midway through.

I stand corrected. Brown IS the color of choice. Thank you for clarifying this discussion. However, if we are going to maintain and require ABSOLUTE perfection in our costumes ie: black is not allowed, make sure no one tries to submit a Luke Skywalker ROTJ costume. I don't believe anyone can dispute the color of that outfit. Once again I will say what I have stated on other boards and web sites. Your costume is an extension of you and your personality. Make your costume reflect who YOU are. But remember, if you are going for the look of an actual movie character accuracy is a must.

A Luke costume is acceptable, so long as you are Luke far as I know as well. Then again...Luke doesn;t wear all black either

Other than his Rebel Pilot uniform, when did Luke not wear black in ROTJ?

Well at the beginning of ROTJ, Luke is wearing something looking a little similar to prequel tabbards and an obi/sash- They look darkish grey in colour.
His robe- when he enters Jabba's palace, is either very dark brown or grey?
As has been mentioned Luke's black Jedi outfit (after surrendering himself on the moon of Endor)- is acceptable by the council.
So is Barriss Offee and Luminara Unduli.

They are acceptable, but only a replica & not your own variation of them.

Darn, I was really hoping I would be able to get black robes acceptable, due to my backstory, but if it's that strict, I doubt I'll get to. Well, guess I'll just have to no go further than the message borards, I don't like brown. I wear all black in everyday dress. I own three all black trench coats. I don't have a single non black pair of pants. So, people who would know, Due to my back ground being a reformed dark jedi, would black be acceptible? It all fits in with my storry. I keep my black robes my black robes, because I like the colour black, it makes me look thinner, as well as all my credits go to helping the poor of dantooine. Is there anyway this could be allowed? ....pretty please?
