STAR WARS
A Fallen Tale
It is an age of peace and prosperity in the newly formed Republic. Already the recently elected galactic senate has begun exploration on the new hyperspace routes, and many new species throughout the galaxy have finally seen other beings unlike themselves. The Jedi knights, the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, are flourishing, and aiding the republic in many diplomatic disputes. But hidden within this light is a shadow and it is rising over the republic. Some of the Jedi are disappearing for unknown reasons. The threat must be stopped, because if this continues the Jedi will fall, and so will the republic. As of now in deep space a young man known as Andel Dirranos and his droid R9-M4 are lost in a hyperspace route…
Chapter One
Where are we?
“Wait R9! No not right, LEFT! OH CRAP! POWW! Andel Dirranos, is your basic lonely, nobody who is always trying to make a living in the galaxy. Then there is his counter part R9, brilliant droid with a bipedal stance and intelligence of a protocol droid, but has the tools of an Astromech droid. Unfortunately this brilliant but stubborn droid seems to have accidentally flown the ship into an unknown hyperspace route which is littered with asteroids. “Master, if my calculations are correct it is nearly impossible to navigate successfully through an asteroid field.” “OH REALLY YOU THINK!” “If you didn’t bring us out of hyperspace any sooner you would have killed us both before we even knew what hit us.” “Master Andel”, I am merely a droid not a miracle worker!” Andel trying to calm the droid down says, “I know, I know, but we got bigger issues here!” “We can continue this argument later lets just make out of this predicament alive! Okay here we go LEFT, RIGHT, keep turning… and yes, oh no pull up,UP, UP!! BAAAM! I think we lost something… Through a miracle they are able to fly out of the asteroid field, but at the cost of losing the hyperdrive engine.
Their ship is just as odd as they are. Its weapons are at the highest caliber; with at this moment the highest density reflector shield that has ever been created. This is the only ship of its kind and has been given the name of The Crimson Hawk. The two often travel alone but there are a few occasions were that changes. After they are safely away from the asteroid field they head for the map room, a huge circular room with several chairs, not to mention the holographic map table in the middle and a table to play the rousing game of Pazaak.
“Okay, Bring up the map R9” as Andel says in a sigh of relief. “Master this is strange, there is only one planet within this system.” “Okay then what’s the planet?” Andel sarcastically asks. “Korriban sir, but it appears that the Jedi forbid any one to go here, that’s all it says in the description.” “Obviously the Jedi are hiding something, set a course R9 for Korriban” “ I want to find out what is down their, and don’t forget we have to repair the hyper drive. So we don’t really have a choice.” Andel leaves the room to head for his bunk knowing it could take a day to reach the planet.
It was a rough night for Andel, as something bothered him as they came near the planet. He kept seeing a vision, a dark shadowy figure. It was almost as it was egging him to come closer to the planet. But the dream stopped abruptly as R9-M4 entered his room. “Master Andel, Master Andel!” Andel on his feet ready for a battle becomes puzzled to why his was woken in such haste. “What in the world is wrong, you act like a bantha sees you as his favorite fodder.” “But sir we’ve been intercepted by what appears to be a Jedi star fighter.” “Sigh”, go ahead R9, let him board.” “We better not be under arrest” Andel whispers to himself as he goes to the docking bay.
When the docking bay door opens however, its not what he expects. Instead of seeing a tall noble Jedi he sees a stumpy medium sized young adult, about his own age, with long hair, but still wearing the customary Jedi tunic and robe. “Hey! I was wondering you had some spare fuel?” Andel immediately sighs in relief; “You put up quite a scare you know that, I thought we were under arrest.” The Jedi looks mischievously at the fellow and ask, “We?” “Under Arrest” “What are you talking about?” “Aren’t you a Jedi knight? The Jedi very eagerly replies, “Of coarse…well not yet. You see I’m still a padawan learner. What do you mean under arrest, is this place RESTRICTED?!” “ Well first off the "we", are my droid R9 and myself and the restricted part is in the planet description. It says that the Jedi forbid anyone to come here.” “ But yes we have spare fuel, but there is a problem. Our hyper drive was destroyed while we flew through an asteroid field and we were heading for Korriban to repair the ship.
The young Jedi suddenly burst out realizing the planets name “No we cannot go to Korriban!” “That place is evil there.” Andel is suddenly forms a smirk on his face and becomes interested. “I thought you said you didn’t know any thing about this place?” “ I didn’t know anything about this system until you said Korriban. I’ll explain: my name is Yelnats Dizzula, I’m a Lamronian padawan learner and yes I know about this planet.” “ Within the Jedi archives it is said that this is where the legendary sith species was born.” “They were a dark race of creatures that now are extinct, but there has been rumors that other races are following the ideals of the sith, and are becoming sith lords.” “Why do I get the feeling were going to be talking about the force soon” Andel interrupts. “The sith now are what we call dark Jedi,” “They use the force for selfish gain and to hurt others for their own sick enjoyment.” R9 enters the bay area after overhearing enough information from the Jedi, and remembered a transmission he received not to long ago “Master I have in my memory bank a file that tells of Jedi disappearing. Mister Jedi sir are your fellow Jedi becoming these sith you speak of?” “Well R9 is it, there is no confirmed report of this but that is a possible denominator, and what most of the wise masters suspect.” “Well I know your droid’s name, but you never mentioned your name?” “My name is Andel Dirranos, don’t act like you know me because you don’t know me, and I tend to keep it that way.” “The way the galaxy is nowadays its better not to be known.”
“Listen no hard feelings but I don’t like talking about myself to much.” Andes quickly drops the conversation and starts back about Korriban. “But tell me this, if you won’t let us go to Korriban how do you think we can repair the ship huh?” “I don’t see any Hyperdrive parts just floating around do you?” “So as you can see me and R9 don’t have any alternative.” Yelnats looks at the floor knowing Andel speaks the truth and replies, “Well you’re right. You’re going to need that spare fuel to just make it to the planet, so I’ll come along. This planet probably won’t do anything to us, as long as we don’t poke around to long.”
Chapter Two
Korriban
Yessssss…, the for…ce is strong with you…..Come to me…..There is no peace….yesss
“WHAAA!? Man not that weird dream again. Who is talking to me.” As Andel gets dressed he notices the ship is not running. “Well looks like we landed, and they’ve already gone scouting without me, some friends they are.” He heads out to the landing ramp only to discover a very dry decollate world. The sun gives the fiery sand a burning glow; a slight breeze also blows only to blind you with loose sand. But he is able to make out the two figures ahead of him one is definitely a droid. “There they are”, “SO YALL COULDN’T WAIT UNTIL I WOKE UP EH!!” They turn around laughing at him as his echo chimes through the red canyons. Yelnats and R9 walk back to the ship still laughing, although R9 is making a glitzy sound. “Heh, if R9 and me waited for you to wake up we’d die of frustration, you snore like a wild Dewback.” “Well for your information I had a rough night, as a matter a fact ever since we’ve been in this system I’ve had strange dreams.” Yelnats face soon turns serious, “Yes, I know through the force I have felt this and it is most disturbing, but what is even more disturbing is the source is coming from this planet.” Andel becomes very curious about what the Jedi is saying and is filled with questions. “Wait a minute, are you telling me I’m for seeing the future or something?” Yelnats try’s to calm down Andel’s eagerness and begins explaining. “When I first intercepted your ship I sensed a great power but only thought it was the darkness from this unknown system. So when I boarded your ship and you mentioned Korriban, I said to myself, “So that’s what that feeling was, until last night in your sleep. But now I see the truth you are very strong in the for-,” “Hold on, are you telling me I have the traits of a Jedi knight?” “Well yes, and you said before you were a nobody. I suppose that means you don’t have a family or a wife, no emotional attachment to anything right?” “Nope I’m a lone warrior.” “That my friend makes you even more compatible, I will see once the ship is fixed that you will meet with the Jedi council.” Yelnats promises he will answer some more of Andel's questions later, and he steps aside so R9 can report on the hyperdrive.
“Master Andel, I’m sorry to inform you that we have found no parts anywhere so I suggest we keep looking. “Hey, just wait a minute R9. While R9 was scourging for parts I came upon some ruins that have been used very recently.” Andel is suddenly interested, “Recently?, How can you tell?” “Well you’ve seen how the sand blows here, any indentation in the ground would be covered in no time..” “Yeah so what’s your point?” “I found foot tracks that lead to this large temple doorway, and as you can see your foot prints from the ship are already gone. So someone was here right before I found the temple.” “Well come on then if someone’s here they might have parts so lets go.” Yelnats puts his hands out meaning to slow down, and try’s to make a point, “Do you honestly think this guy is here for the same reason we are? How do we know its not a sith.” Andel interrupts “What if it is one of your Jedi?” But Yelnats knows that if it were a Jedi he would be a sith by now, but he try’s not to mention it and says, “What if it isn’t?” Andel sees his point, knowing if they got into trouble, who would be around to help them. “Well I guess you’re right, let’s just keep looking around.” They continue their search for parts and eventually find a down republic command ship probability about ten years old and are able to salvage the hyperdrive. For some reason this disturbs Yelnats, because if there were survivors where are they now? But Andel suggests it would be best to wait until the next morning, because everyone is tired, even the droid feels like he’s about to fall apart. R9 promises he will get to work on the hyperdrive first thing the next morning. However Andel has other plans during the night other than sleeping. He waits about four or five hours after Yelnats is asleep and sneaks out of the Crimson Hawk.
Unlike daytime on Korriban, night is cold, and pitch black. Andel realizes that this is what his dream was like. As he walked south an outline appeared; soon revealing a large temple. On each side there was statues, although the appearance was human it had a very ominous look to them. He soon figures out that his dreams where telling him what was about to happen, so it was only a matter of time before he meets, “Welcome my young apprentice.” Andel is suddenly stopped as a chill runs up his spine as he recognizes the hoarse voice, as it is the one from his dreams. “Its…its you, who are you, what are you?” “My name is Naga Sadow. I am the most powerful of the sith lords.” “No need to introduce yourself, you are Andel Dirranos, a human with a long tormenting past, and one who is very strong in the force.” “Okay I’m freaking out here,” “ho.., how do you know all this?” The Ominous figure steps out of the shadow, and there in front of Andel is a tall man dressed in gray with a black hood covering his face and a blackened cape that is wrapped around his body. The only light on his body is the shiny metal of a lightsaber, which looks like it might be double bladed. “All the terrible events in your life, your families death, your only love that you lost, it was all part of my plan. “Since you were born I watched over you and have tried to make you a very painful and angry person because fate would bring us to this meeting one day… and so it has.” “YOU! You expect me to join you after all you’ve done to me, I have hopes to join the Jedi. “I don’t care what you did to me in the past, sure you made me suffer but what’s done is done, and I’m leaving this planet in the morning, never to return!” “Yesss I can feel your anger.” “I will not stop you, for I have for seen you will return and become one of the greatest of all the sith, YOU WILL RETURN ha ha ha ha ha! The evil laugh makes Andel shiver as he runs and before he looks back the dark figure is gone.
Luckily nobody noticed that he was gone. The morning however comes sooner than expected, not realizing he was actually gone five hours that night. No one wakes Andel up though until the loud rumbling of the ship starts. Although he wakes up to it, it is a sound of salvation.
“Good to see you are awake master Andel. Perhaps you should know I have successfully restored our hyperdrive and we are ready to leave on your command.” “Very good R9, but where is Yelnats?” “Right here” Yelnats exclames as he enters the thingypit, “Shall we go meet the Jedi council?” “Yeah very soon as a matter a fact, over the night I have become very eager to join the Jedi.” Yelnats is once again trying to calm Andel’s eagerness down, “ Hold on a minute there, I forgot to mention this before but we Jedi don’t usually accept adults for training. We take them as children before they really learn about emotions and common problems, It’s easier for them to understand our concepts. But however I’ll admit you are a special case, so don’t worry I’m sure you will be accepted for training.” Yelnats goes to the map room and points out several locations. “The closest Jedi academy is… here, Dantooine. Dantoonie has a small Jedi enclave there but do not judge it by is size because it has some of the most powerful Jedi masters you will ever meet. Soon the ship is leaving the fiery planet behind but it memories have forever scarred the mind of Andel. Especially since now he knows his parents death was not his fault, but it hurts him more knowing that it wasn’t his fault him and his love never got together. It was painful knowing they would have stayed together if it wasn’t for Naga Sadow.
Chapter 3
The Jedi Enclave
The Crimson Hawk soon comes out of hyperspace, and a planet comes into visual range. It is not a very large planet, but judging by the green color, it is obviously a very nutrient rich planet. Andel finds it odd to have a Jedi academy this far out, especially since the republic has just started exploring the outer rim planets and starts to ask Yelnats some questions. “Hey Yelnats, How long has this Jedi enclave been here?” Knowing that Andel is probably going to ask a few questions he sits down in front of him. “If you want to know the truth, only about ten years.” “It was founded by a wise and powerful Jedi master known as Vodo Siosk Baas. He is still here and a very young master. Although his species lives a long time, some have been known to live over a thousand years.” “Along with him there is the wise Master Saday, the Chronicler of the academy, Master Sraak, and the combat teacher, Master Loram. Oh and of coarse Master Vodo the head of the Enclave. “So how many students are there?” Yelnats chuckles and says, “About fifteen, but you got to understand, we are on the outer rim. See if we were on Corusant, countless students would be there since it’s the center of the galaxy, and the galactic capital. Master Vodo however wanted students from all over the galaxy to join and with the new hyperspace routes discovered, he founded Dantooine. Hey don’t act like any thing is wrong with the place, I was trained there since my home world Lamron is very remote.” “That’s another thing I’ve been wanting to ask you, you don’t look like a Lamronian, how is that?” Yelnats responds very quickly to answer. “About time you asked that, I was beginning to think you had never seen one of my species before, but along story short my dad was a Lamronian, and my mom was a Changeling, which gave me the ability to look like any species I’ve seen before.” “So I chose to look like a human, since a human can get along with any species, except for the wookies that is, even though my fellow brethren don’t approve of the look. But that’s not my problem anymore, I was able to escape my planet before this ruthless dictator took hold named Noshnoj Belliana.” “Anyway… we should be landing soon and I’m sure the Master Jedi there will answer any further questions.
It is a smooth ride down to the planet. It has a beautiful landscape with green grasslands, and a lot of farmers are spotted on the decent. A little while later the round, marble, Jedi enclave comes into view. Yelnats takes Andel directly to the council but R9 is forced to stay behind. It is forbidden for a droid or commoner to hear the will of the council unless they have an important message or appointment. As they head to the council chamber they pass several rooms with Jedi fighting with vibrantly colored lightsabers, obviously training. Yelnats hears Andel say to himself I can’t wait to I get one of those and smirks at it. All of a sudden Andel and Yelnats enter a gray, circular room with oddly shaped trees in the rounded corners. In the middle stand one woman, two men and a short three-foot creature. Yelnats addresses the council with great respect, “Master Vodo I bring before you an adult for training. I have felt him, and he is very strong in the force. He seeks the knowledge of the Jedi, and wishes to be trained. “Decide we will he training he seeks hmm…” Andel stands in shock as he finds out that the legendary master Vodo is the three-foot tall, big eared, green creature in the middle. He almost laughs but is able to hold it back. “Strong in the force is he, but eager and headstrong he is.” “Traits of the dark side they are.” “Greetings fellow friend my name is Master Loram, you must forgive master Vodo for his discouragement.” “Tell me what is your name?” Andel does a slight bow, “My name is Andel Dirranos, it is my great pleasure to meet you all.” Master Loram bows back and introduces the other masters, “You already know Master Vodo, the founder of our great enclave, here is our chronicler Master Sraak, and the teacher of the force Master Saday.” The two Masters bow as there names are called. Master Vodo turns to speak to the wise masters and turns back to speak with Andel, “Deliberate on your training we must. Free you are to roam our enclave, tomorrow you shall return. Decide we will if Jedi you become.” Everyone bows as they leave the room. Once they leave the room Andel ask Yelnats a question. “What do you think my chances are?” Yelnats stops and puts his hand on Andels shoulder, “I think you have a good chance. Although I began training at five, it took them a day to decide. They said I was too brash and headstrong but here I am. Night quickly comes. By midnight R9, Andel, and Yelnats are asleep in the provided rooms in the enclave.
Ha ha ha ha, heed my words young one… Peace is a lie…there is only passion…through passion I gain strength…through strength I gain power…through power I gain victory…through victory my chains are broken and the force shall free me…
Andel is suddenly awake with the same feeling he had on korriban. But he ponders on the words that were spoken trying to figure out what they mean.
The next morning Yelnats goes and wakes Andel to tell him the council is ready to see him. Andel quickly dresses and heads to the Jedi council chamber. “Decided we have on your fate, although old you are, your power has begun to manifest itself and tamed it must be.” Master Vordo turns the training information over to Master Loram. “I have decided that I will be your teacher and master. Through me you will learn the ways of the force and the skill to use a light saber.” Master Loram now turns it over to the female Master Saday. “Before you can begin your training however you must learn the sacred Jedi code: There is no passion, there is only peace; there is no ignorance, there is knowledge; there is no Chaos, there is harmony; there is no death, there is the Force.” “Learn these words and meditate on their meaning young apprentice, for this is the way of a Jedi.”
Three weeks pass as master Loram teaches Andel in the ways of the force. Him and Yelnats become almost like brothers as they practice their training daily. Andel comes accustom to using a vibroblade, which tests his sword fighting skills. After the fourth week Master Loram confronts his apprentice with his progress. “You are truly strong in the force young Andel, you have accomplished in days when many can not do in. However I think it is time you construct your own light saber. Your apprenticeship is about to end and a padawan you will become. Constructing your lightsaber is your first challenge. Andel is overwhelmed with joy as he finally gets a lightsaber. “Here my apprentice is your power cell. This supplies the power to the saber itself. Go now and speak with Master Saday. She will help you choose your power crystal. May the force be with you.” Andel bows to his master and runs off to find Master Saday. On the way there he meets up with Yelnats who asks how the training goes. “I overheard you are going to get a crystal from Master Saday, am I right?” “Yeah you heard right and soon I will be a padawan just like you.” Yelnats senses a brotherly argument about whom is better coming on, “ Do you really want to start an argument over who is better?” “Why not, Loram said it himself, I’ve done in days what many can not do in months ha ha ha.” “So!” Yelnats says in a jealous tone. But he quickly comes back, “At least I’m not reckless like you, I mean look, you’re always arguing with me, and gloating. You do know this is the path to the darkside right?” Yelnats try’s to scare Andel, but it doesn’t work. “Hey don’t get all YOU’RE GOING TO DARKSIDE on me brother! Don’t make me bring up the subject about you wanting that Jedi gir- “SHHHHH! Hey don’t say that Kind of stuff out loud, it could get me kicked out of the academy,” Yelnats whispers. Fine. Fine. FINE.FINE! Soon a new argument starts about who should say “fine” to end the last argument.
“Eventually,” Andel makes it to the Jedi council chamber and confronts Master Saday. “So is it that time all ready to chose the crystal?” “Yes Master Saday, what colors are there?” Master Saday goes over to a door and gets a box out of it. She opens it and reveals three crystals. “Blue is the color of a Jedi guardian. This Jedi focuses more on combat with a lightsaber and the use of the force in fighting. Yellow is the color of a Jedi sentinel. This Jedi try’s to make the galaxy a better place and fights the forces of evil. Green is the color of a Jedi consular. This Jedi spends countless hours meditating and masters the use of the living force. So young one, which color do you desire?” Andel thinks real hard, and looks back and forth. “I want to be a Jedi guardian, blue.” Master Saday takes the blue crystal and gives it to Andel. On the outside it appears to be a shiny blue stone but it gives off a strange and powerful feeling in Andel's hand. “Now, take this crystal to your master, he will instruct you further.”
Andel meets with Loram again and through his guidance a hilt is formed with a mystical metal. The crystal is put into the power cell, which is put in the hilt. At the press of a button a bright blue beam is ignited before Andel’s eyes.
