I was looking at pics of MR's Darth Vader episode 3 saber (ugly thing) and I was thinking... do you even see it at any point? Or did they just make one for the hell of it? It has a covertec knob on it, and I dont remember Vader's belt having a clip on it

I dont ever remember Vader wearing the saber. Unless he as it at the end of the moive when he walks to the death star.

That's probably it. And these Covertec clips can't be very sturdy in the Star Wars universe- Obi Wan and Vader managed to break theirs (and replace them with D-rings) without having a single lightsaber battle in almost 20 years.

You see Darth Vader on the star destroyer in that last scene where he is overlooking the building of the Death Star with Sidius and Tarkin. They only show him from the chest up, but I assume that they had to have him in the complete outfit, which would include the lightsaber. He wore it all the time in the OT.
I mean, I really doubt that they have any outtakes where they say, "Oh, we only have Vader from the chest up in this, so Hayden can just wear shorts."

I just find it interesting that they used a covertec knob. The props guys must really be in love with them, I think they're trying to pretend that D-rings never existed...
