;D At C3, a guy went up to a Darth Sidious and said, "Hey! It's the pope!" and a whole bunch of 501st troopers and Red Guards pointed their weapons at him...classic!

Im guessing that he has 1 or 2 extra sabers hidden in various spots around Courscant and he just went and got another one. This is exactly right. Apparently he had more than one saber hidden in various places of his office. But if you want to talk about a real saber mishap... I was watching the in depth commentary of Ep III (which is only available when you watch the dvd with your PC)- originally in the scene where Mace and the gang go to arrest Palpatine, Anakin was supposed to be standing next to the Chancellor. Instead of having his own short saber up his sleeve, he was supposed to use Anakin's to fight the Jedi. If you look closely (especially the exchange between Palpatine and Mace) he is holding Anakin's longer saber with one hand! Check it out! ;D Actually- here's some screenshots for you! Cool eh? Now unfortunately we will never know if he was supposed to be originally fighting with a blue blade- or if somehow the blade became red in Palpy's hands.

I never noticed that. That's pretty cool. Yet if anajin was suppose to stand next to him I wonder how that scene would have turned out

Palpatine was supposed to use the force and get Anakin's saber from his belt. I discovered this when one of the earlier Ep. 3 Palpatine figures had a blue Anakin saber instead of a Palpatine red one. Seems like it was filmed that way and George changed his mind.

That seems to happen a lot! The toys are finished before the movie is (and subsequent revisions). Think of the Hasbro Anakin Ep III electronic toy lightsaber- for whatever reason the blade can change from blue to red! When did that happen in the movie? Another example (although not Star Wars) were the 4 inch figures for Star Trek: Generations- the figures had a completely new design for the uniforms, however because of last minute budget restraints, in the film they used the same old TNG/DS9 uniforms. So the figures became unique.

If a lightsabre fell out of the sky and landed right by me, no way I'm giving that back. It's mine now. LOL! "I wish you would have told me that before I gave him back his lightsabre."
