I was with as Klingon group at my college back in '73-'74 and had a costume (like the one the Klingon woman wore in Day of the Dove, except like the men;s pants material) and wore a long black curling wig. My name was Kogina U'Basti. JMD

No, way. It's dead. Even I like some Trek a little, mainly select episodes of TNG and Voyager (those are the gens I grew up on) and a few of the movies. But yes, it's dead. I think they killed when they killed Data, and Enterprise getting progressively worse only put the final nail in the coffin. My family only watched the first season and one or two episodes of the second, and then lost interest...and my Dad's an avowed Trekkie! And now they're making an 11th Trek? Ugh. I thought they learned with Enterprise that Prequels just don't work for Trek. I mean, you already know where everything goes with Kirk and such. Why bother? Besides, seeing his and Spock's characters devellop in the movies, only to go right back to the beginning... Anyhow, rant over. I think they should just let sleeping Klingons lie and direct their energy toward giving Trek a respectful funeral. Say a few kind words over it, and let the fans sort it out.

Season 2 of TNG was the obstacle to overcome. Trek has become not only a cultural, but worldwide phemomenon. SW is on the same path and each grosses in the billions each year in merchandising, residuals, and syndication rights.
Trek has been hurt by its writers losing sight of the Trek Paradigm. It was way ahead of its time when it first came out and would still be relevant today (evidence the re-mastering and re-release of the TOS on DVD and now in HD). Each captures our imaginations for different but yet similar reasons......

(sniff sniff) but I'm a Klingon And Ill not go quietly into the night I shall go Kicking and screaming (you know I'M insane right!) the Star Wars Prequel worked I'm willing to give an Old friend a chance an see. If they Muff this up then it will probably be the end then. I think as the fan base is getting smaller (thank you VIACOM!!! for all the cease and desist law suites you gave out, WAY TO MAKE THE FANS LOVE YA!!!!) ;D

Star Trek died when they started airing DS9. The old series was cool, albeit cheesy. TNG was awesome, especially the first few seasons. After that it just got stupid, and no amount of Borg or Vulcan hotties can change that. Well...pointy-eared hotties never get old...but you get my point.
Basically, Star Trek died with Gene Roddenberry.

Star Trek was what Liucas orginally wanted tommake but couldn't get it from paramount (since Roddenberry sold it to them back when) before did Star Wars. I remember seeing this on Force.net. So don't dish one Sf or fantasy over another guys. I like both--grew up on the old ST and was 22 when Star Wars came out. And that trailer for the new ST movie--well, I admit to a tear looking at it in the theater. I personally am tired of one picking on one show or another, it's all SF and there's Mundanes out there who'll dis all of it. JMD (who'll now get off her soapbox)

Ejhh I like BOTH shows, I grew up on 'em. SW was my fist space opera, and Trek was my first scifi. They're great. Some ST:TNGs eps are great some aren't, same for SST:TOS< Voyager and DS9 as well as Enterprise.
ENterprise has that uncharted waters feeling that starfleet could do. Few rules no prime directive stipulation. They messup they learn. They takes risks a LOT of them. And some they reallty messup, and tech doesn't always save the day. The writters kinda' killed the show though.
Either way, when I can, I'll get DVD collections of ALL Trek series and movies. Then Heroes, etc. I've been on many starfleet ships b/c of my many movies across county. USS Stargazer, USS Triumph, USS Arch Angel, ISS Archngel(It's gone to the mirror universe.:-).) I've been adopted by a Ship in Miami, And adopted and accepted into Klingon House Fenix as a jedi.:-D But I'll costume Klingon, I've gear but no ridges ...yet.
No starfleet uniform yet. But when I do, it'll be an Enterprise(Prequeal) jumpsuit, and the Maroon uniforms from the 34, 5th movies. The "Enterprise" jump suit feels more like what you'd wear on a shipm, and the "monster" maroon's uniform feels more like a real uniform and could be used as a dress varient.
