I can sympathise with the cell phone rant I can relate to the work situation, the plant I work at has experienced a slowdown and instead of laying off they are cutting our hours.

OK so I feel a bit safe here so here is my rant I actually need some diplomatic solutions. I'm very extremly upset right now bawling actually. OK OK but I never said that. I hate to dry anyway. My neighbor has dogs. I live rural mind you and yes our county has a leash law. Anyway she has four dogs two of which are pupies. They all wander and I have found them numourouse times on the main road. Anyway. I feel on the couch asleep to be awoken by this horriable screaching outside. well the mum and pupies are out their going after my outdoor cats. Ugh. One cat is going aftre the pupies. So we have had probs for the last two weeks with our garbage being knowked over , Humm gee I found the culprate. And my dogs try to run them off but are well mannered and patient and dont totally clober the pups who have apperently become bolder. I'm bawling because my one indoor cat who is young decided to check out the comotion and got out is missing. yeah I know I'm a softy especially with animals they are a huge part of me. Not to mention Leia means teh total world to my kids. So yeah I know fenc youre yard yeah its in teh works we have five acers its on the list of things to get to and we are saving up to do that. Umm I have talked to the neigboor numourouse times about her dogs in my yard, Mine occasionoly go in hers but not at all anymore. they got in a fight. That whole male dog domonince issue. I have even offered them the use of my chainlink dog kenel but been declined. I offered numourouse times. I do have permission from her to use my paint ball marker on the dogs and have on her bigger ones. I dont actully hit them but get right by them. With the pupies I'm afraid to even shot it their way If I hit one on accident I could do some serious damage. So I did go fire it at them with no paint in it just air I thought the loudness would scare them. Ugh no didn't work. I'm at my wits end dont want to start a huge fued. One of her dogs is a hudini I swear. But I cant take it anymore and Draxxsus is gone on fire tranning. So while all teh caos is raging and I'm trying to get the dogs off my property my littlest one is screaming blody murder cuz she is scared her cat is gone and she has an ear infection on top of it. I hate to ramble and yeah this is un Jade like but I'm as c3po says So confused. Any Ideas before I really tell my neigbor off. Im notorious for speaking my mind and Hey I called the poor woman at 5 am so!!! ugh!!!

Your Hundini canine was a master escape artist?
I had a german shephard who knew how to open doors. AN escape aretist too.
She'd let herself out to use the bathroom, and to come in, she'd bark.
Cats do that too. So weird. My friend Elizabeth had a cat who could open the door too. He'd stand up on the hind legs, place front paws on the handel and push. She had to lock the door so Scooter couldn't go out. Once or twice when I was over, he and teddy(the other feline) had gotten out the back door in the manner iIdescibed while. I ran out to go find Scooter, calling softly b/c the houses were VERY close and I didn't think the neighybors wanted to hear someone shouting for a cat at 10 pm. I whispered, Scooter meowed softly and I actually heard him, I told him to get back in the house, he did.

My Rant

Post by Schph Gochi on Jan 31, 2003 6:34:32 GMT -5
I don't have any solutions as I seem to have the same problems in my neck of the woods...so I can only relate some experiences.
I have no pets and no children...I live between neighbors that have both. The neighbors on both sides of me were very good friends at one time...untill the "cat incident". the neighbor to the east of me asked the neighbor to the west of me (remember they were friends at this time) to please keep their cat inside...the cat (belonging to the west neighbor) was using the east's garden beds as litter boxes, digging up plants etc...of course the neighbor to the west said "not my cat"....and thus the fued began...the two neighbors have not talked since and I am in the middle of the "war zone"...police started showing up on a regular basis after that...one neighbor would call the police on the other because now the kids were not allowed to play together because of the cat incident...and it went to hell in a handbasket after that...that same cat does the same thing to my garden...after the blow up...well I didn't bother to say anything...it would be useless...so I have to go to extreme meausres to keep the cats from using my beds as litter boxes ...it cr*ps all over my property...I have to cope. So saying anything more to your neighbor is useless.....If you call the police...rest assured....you will no longer be friendly at all with your neighbor.
I have also watched the people across the street go toe to toe on the issue of barking dogs...I also endure endless barking from the neighbor to the west (the one with the cat also has a psycho dog)....they put the dog in its cage and the dog will literally bark for HOURS until it is let back in the house...sometimes I can tune out the endless barking...sometimes (if I have had a particularly tough day) it is impossible to tune it out.....it takes away alll my enjoyment of my garden (which is supposed to calm me).....I don't bother to say anything...cause I also know that it won't do any good.
I also deal with people who take their dogs out on my priaire restoration site (which is a State of Illinois Nature Preserve where no dogs are allowed)...and watch the owners let their dogs cr*p on the trails and all over and don't clean it up.
....so the point I guess I am trying to make here is that this problem seems to be widespread. so.... I would keep your cat inside.....and if you can handle the fallout...call the police that the neighbor is violating the leash law... but know that things between you two will never be the same...
I know this doesn't help much....but it at least lets you know that you are not alone.....

Ah, German Sheheard escape artists.. I had one of those. But he used to get out of his his kennel and get back IN the house! lol! Hmm........ Jade... big problem. The only solution if the neighbors won't listen is to call the Police I think. Yeah, it might start a big thing, but you have to think of the best thing to to do for your pets. Fencing in 5 acres, wow. Lots of $$$! But that would be another good solution. Or keep your cats in. Leia is the new kitten? Could you train her now to stay in? How about building or buying a little shed for the garbage? You could look at it this way.......... The neighbors are the wrong ones and you have evry right to call the police. When they have to sping them from the pound a couple of times, they might think about the law. It might start something between you, so I dunno. You have to weigh it. Isn't this the second cat gone missing? Or was that from the coyotes? How soon can you build that fence?

if you find that bumper sticker about the phone booth...I want one too... I don't own a cell phone...and never will...... I want to take anyone with a cell phone in their ear while driving and jam it completely in their ear! Cell phones are currently my pet peeve! You will be happt to know that I have a cell phone and almost NEVER USE IT! It's only for emergencies. Like if I'm driving to a client's house the first time and I get lost on the way. lol! Or my truck breaks down. Or I have to meet Nova at Starbucks to go fabric shopping. Even then I can't wait to turn the darn thing off. A nusiance they are. And rude. It's a safety/peace of mind thing, really.

OK OK the cat finally dame back ugh I'm sooo glad. She has decided to stay in and not try to go out. she is a bit diffrent now. I finally convinced my neighbor to take my kennel ugh it is an exspensive loss but what the hay If it keeps her dogs in great. I dont use it. Fencing ASAP gonna be between 5 and 6 hundred but hey better than the $ 5000 that the compony quoted. Were considering getting some bamboo fro teh pirimiter in teh sparsly treeded areas. Alot of work cuz we have to did and get special stuff cuz its invasive in some forms but Ill deal and get teh special stuff. My plna is to have a shop with a guest house type thing on top and landscape my entire yard into a wonderfully magical place. It is a life goal. We got a Koi pond already yeah!! OK anyway. So yeah and as soon as the wolf hybrids are back in my yard from teh way distant neighboor Im callin fish and wildlife on um. They can just deal. I also got my neighboors permission to use my paintball marker on her dogs she said to crono that baby up and aim for teh bum. bo yah. I constantyl pick her dogs up off the main road and yeah she appreciates it but not a clue does she have about whatever. I do sypatize with her hudini dog though. She offered to give her to me but I have two dogs already. So yeah teh fence will go up soon and She is getting the kennel this weekend and hopefully all is good. LOL I tend to get to be a basket case over animal issues. My one outside cat actually finally went after her dog and came out on the winning side. Oh and teh cat dukey thing Schp I really hate that mine do it in my roses and it is nasty. My mother inlaw says to sprinkle Cyanne peper around youre plants but not on teh leaves it burns teh leaves. Cats hate it and it dosent damage them. It works in teh summer hear but we get alot of rain. Oh I have a great Idea for slugs to!! WA notorious for slugs and the totally destroyed my hostous. Those little grose jabba lookin things yuck.

sounds like you have a handle on the whole thing Jade...and you are very right....bamboo is nothing to be messing with ....it is HIGHLY invasive and you could end up with a nightmare on your hands. I would try some other shrubs that are native to your area....try getting in touch with the Extension Service for the State of Washington...they could probably help you choose something suitable and native to you....native plant material usually has benefits for wildlife too...like shrubs that produce berries for birds etc.

Gooe Idea Schp Ill have to check that out. I have soward ferns to die for on my property. LOL I have a friend who came to visit from CA and we have tons and tons of scotch broom. She thought it would be great to plant in her back yard. No way yeah it has lovley floweres but man can that sruff spred. I laugh when I see Foxvlove in wal-mart for sale. I have Masive Masive amounts of it wild on my land and they are beatiful. I tell my daughter thier called that because at night the foxes put their paws inside them to keep warm. She thought I was crazy.LOL Another one that gets me is our state flower. Rhodadandians.. Yah yeah they have pretty flowers but I dont like up. I dont know why but they are boring to me. OK OK rant thread hummm mine since the dog thing hopefully has iorned out and thanks for the help. At that point I was totally frusterated and had enough. I keep saying I'm going to fence in teh propety and get a huge dog to run it and protect it. I spend a huge amount of time alone and with small children Draxxsus really dosent want a gun in the house. He has seen to much in his line of work. He hs a huge issue with kids and helmets when wheels are under their feet to. Anyway yeah if they want in bad enought thell shoot even a big dog. My other Rant the school system but thats all I say on that. Cell phones ummmm yeah I really dont have a right on that one cuz I do talk and drive but.... I am use to doing such from driving fire engins and ambulances. I cut way way way back after reading youre comments and actually havent had one in two weeks. Other than that nothing but Happy energy here.

On the dog and cat issue, try your local Petco, they may have more effective repellents for dogs and cats that are unndetectable by humans but that keep dogs and cats away without harm.

Jade....one thing I can tell you is to get pictures of those dogs in your yard. It is a crime to be a neglegent pet owner. I have seen jail time and big fines and have seen the courts ban people from owning pets. If they treat their pets that way, then they will treat their children that way. Those animals deserve a better life than that....... Oh, and anyone that has problems with neighbors letting their dogs poop everywhere, you can go to your vet and get information on the diseases that children can contract from dog and cat feces. Most of them are fatal......I have done that with some neighbors of mine when my children were little. Handed them the paperwork and it worked. I had one of them call me to say she had no idea how dangerous dog and cat poop can be, that she thought poop was like a fertilizer like with grass eating animals...... the other neighbor, we just put her dog's poop in a paper bag, put it at her front door and set fire to it. That really works by the way. She tried to stomp it out.
