Hi! I had an idea the other day while talking to Leda. Since so many of us are reading EU books, I thought perhaps we could start a bookclub? Each month, a different member of the bookclub could pick a book for all of us to read. It could be a new release, and old classic, a childrens series book...anything (as long as it's a Star Wars EU book). Then we could all read the book over the month and discuss it here. We could do two type of club: 1. A Discuss is as we go type of club....where as you read, you post when you have something to discuss (start the post with what page you on so you don't reveal any 'spoilers' to people no yet that far along in the book ). Then we can all discuss the book as we're reading it. 2. A Monthly meeting type of club...where we all set a meeting date (like the first tuesday of the month) & time. Then at that date and time we could all be on the posting board together and keep discussing the book (thru posts). Would anyone be interested? It would be a great opportunity for all of us to read some new books, some old ones you've perhaps never read, and to even possibly be rereading classics. Then you get to laugh/cry/question the same book with everyone ;D!! Jenny

Sure. Sounds good to me. Some of us may have a problem finding the book, though, as I have alarger SW library than my local municipal one and I loive 30 miles form the nearest bookstore. I think we shold say at the beginning of the month too what the NEXT book will be so we all have time to find it

Cool!
Sounds like we have enough interest...Lets plan on doing this. I'm excited ;D!!!!!
How about if we see who posts over the next week that they are interested in joining us. Then we'll make a list of everyone and give them a month to pick the book we read. I agree, let's announce the book a month early (i.e. in early July announce the book that we'll be reading in August so people have time to get it.).
So what kind of discussion do we want to do: The 'Discuss as we go' or the 'Montlhy discussion' ?
Discuss is as we go: We read and then post whenever you have something to discuss (start the post with what page you on so you don't reveal any 'spoilers' to people no yet that far along in the book ). Then we can all discuss the book as we're reading it.
Monthly meeting We all set a meeting date (like the first tuesday of the month for example) & time. Then at that date and time we could all be on the posting board together and keep discussing the book (thru posts).

I like the monthly meeting, that way if someone is way ahead (like me probably -- I am a very fast readre) there won't be any spoilers for slower readers.

OUtboud is an excellent choice as I just picked that up recently... I also agree to the once a month meeting as I am also a fast reader.
Now these books are we just going to do random and jump around? As well can we suggest the tales of books?

Let's set up a meeting date and we will just start a new thread for it. Call it BOOK CLUB; the Title and date.
BOOK CLUB: Outbound Flight, July 3, 2006 for example
and no posts about the book until that date
I can mod if you don't want to IFive

July 3rd? That's like 2 weeks away! Too soon for me, but I'll be reading that one next too. Hopefully I can jump in on the thread when I'm finally done with it.

I like the idea. Are we only going to do hard cover books(outbound is hard cover right?) or are we going to paper backs, which are the only ones I really buy.
