I think Jedifay mentioned the name where the real conflict in this series will come from. Tennel Ka. Lots of fodder there. Where the Legacy of the Force may truly lie. After all the stuff with her in the last trilogy of books (with the killliks, etc. ) She is on the cover of the third book in the Legacy series. I have good feelings about this series. I thought Betrayal was very well written. Alliston highlighted very well the moral ambiguity of so many of the situations that the Jedi find themselves in...posing the question....Han wont think twice about shooting down some poor 24 year old in a starfighter...unless that person is the daughter of an old friend. And so on. Here are the covers:

Didn't she already give birth to Jacen's daughter Allana? Is she pregnant again?

Sorry... you didn't miss anything about a pregnancy in the book! Drago was refering to the cover of Temptest (the third book in this series) which had Tenel Ka on the cover (she had a baby with Jacen a few books ago...the baby's name is Allena). But nobody is expecting from this book! Sorry for the misleading info

It seems as though the moral ambiguity is a common dilemma for the Jedi. We see it in the Mandalorian wars with the Knights of the Old Republic comic series, in the Clone Wars, and in the New Jedi Order timeframes.
The problem is the question of serving the state versus serving the Force. The Jedi have failed when they leaned too heavily on either side of the question. When they serve the state too much, they tend to become pawns in political maneuverings. When they serve their own sense of the will of the Force, you have Jedi doing their own thing all over the galaxy.
There must be some sort of middleground. Perhaps the Jedi's lack of basis for absolute truth is part of the problem. They have nothing incorruptible on which to base their actions.

This book disturbed me. It was awesome - but the idea Jacen would become a Sith as a result of logical argument versus manipulation or Mind Trick. Does that make him evil? Or just dark side? Is the Dark Side Evil anymore?

lazlo, i think you summed up jason's struggle in the NJO and this series: "is the dark side evil anymore?" other jedi beleive the dark side is evil, but jason seems to not be willing to just trust in the answers/experiences of others. We are all reading to see just how far he'll go before he finds the answer.....
everything i tell you is a lie

[glow=red,2,300]everything i tell you is a lie[/glow]....Vergere (spelling ) I've read Legacy...but prior to it I'm only at the X-wing Series...but in the crash cousre I did to aquanit myself with the new characters I've found tht Jacen doesn't believe in the light/dark side of the force....and that has much to do with Vergere and the Vong. But to me...killing in cold blood is wrong...no matter what his 'reasons' were...he's definately well into the dark side...even if he doesn't believe in it! I'm with you Lazlo...and so are my friends that have read the book...to be 'talked' into the dark side and killing...come on!

i agree... i should rephrase...i just meant that Jacen is trying to figure this stuff out.... i think it's plain that his actions are of the dark side. No question that the took the "quicker, easier, more seductive" route of solving the problem before him. The seductive aspect is a big thing for Jacen, imo...he takes much pride in his vast wide knowledge of other force cultures, etc. I see it as those things seducing him from the path of the Jedi.
We mentioned earlier about his son coming into the picture....seems very starwarsy that his SON will have something to do with his redemption, etc.
so many "mommy-daddy" issues in the Star Wars universe.
