Even though appearances by any movie characters are minimal (a mere cameo from Darth Vader and a very short communication with Obi-Wan) the Jedi bits in this one are excellent. Jude Watson's characters stand up well in the story and the Star Wars universe, though the technical details are fairly weak as usual. It's a short but enjoyable read.
Oh, and I almost forgot....it's a cliffhanger. According to amazon.com, the next Last of the Jedi book isn't due out until April 2006.

Read it last night... we have to wait 'til April? lol!
It is very good... nice visuals of the ruined Jedi Temple.... good action--- it really moves... and yes, very good character interaction.

Yep. April. Amazon.com doesn't have it listed under Last of the Jedi #4, and there's no cover picture, but the release date says April. Last of the Jedi #4

Well, in the book, Obi-Wan is suprised by how much humor and personality Ferus now has. Like getting out of the Order had done him some good.
But what I'm wondering is if the next book will have Darth Vader in it again? Through somewhat contrived, but amusing circumstances Vader got a very good look at Ferus, but there was no reaction or anything from Vader's POV. What does Vader think when the padawan he hated most in the galaxy in his previous life suddenly shows up unannounced and carrying a lightsaber? Of course, Ferus has no idea who is in the black mask since Obi-Wan has settle on the 'Anakin is dead' line. But I wonder if Ferus will find out?
I also like the detail about the lightsabers being laid out in the Temple as part of the trap for any returning Jedi. Very sad.

Well, at least there IS another one. I thought I'd read there would be only 3. I haven't read it yet.

Well, the end of #3 sort of leaves you hanging a bit, so it would be mighty inconvenient to end it there. There is a Last of the Jedi book listed for release in April 2006 on amazon.com, but no number or other title is attached to it and there is no cover art for it. I just assume that it must be #4.

Hope so. I'm glad to see that there will be another Clone Commandos novel to, I thought that was one of the best SW novels, just really goof Sci Fi SW or not with good attention to realistic military details.

I just read #3 this past weekend and thought it was quite good. I liked how they brought back Dex. Yeah, I kinda figured Vader would be able sense the Force with Ferus. At least, I only have 2 months to wait for #4.
