I finished It yesterday. It is a very good book it combines the aspects of the Yoda from ESB, and the Yoda from the prequels. It also invokes a bit of sadness, because you start to like the other characters, yet you know they don't survive Vader's purge. Especially the Padawan named "Scout". She has worked so hard to get where she is and yet you know she doesn't make past the purge, a some years later.

Johann, How does this book change your view on the Old Republic Jedi?
I throughly enjoyed thsi book, It was a quick read for me and I'll read it over again and take notes. It really gave insight to some training methods and Yoda's personality.

I always held the opinon that the Jedi of old frown on or disapproved of anything coming close to "negative" behavior, due to it skirting the darkside. yet in this book even Yoda seems to have little problem with Scout's use of "dirty" tricks to win. Also Yoda's comments about choosing to follow the light or dark kind of threw me. The whole book made me rethink my ideas about old Jedi. It wasn't the same "Beware the Darkside just because we say so " party line you hear in most the literature. Sean Stewart seems to have delved deep and thought hard on some of the subjects other authors only skirt around.

Ahh. I noticed that too. THe author wasn't araid to approach the subject. I think Yoda 'permitted' Scout's tactics cuz he knew how the other Jeid were giving her grief becasue she wasn't as strong in the force as they were. I feel he, in a way, respected the young girl for beating the odds, and using her mind to get out of a situation even if it was unorthodox in nature. I enjoyed reading my friend's book. I'd like to go snag my own copy so I can make some notations in the margins.

Yeah, I finished it and very much liked it. I like the author's style of writing for the most part.

I was totally cracking up at times, some of it is really amusing, love the descriptions of what Yoda was eating & the droid in the dining hall. Yoda said some very funny stuff, but most made sense. Jai walked right into the bet too......

He sure did. LOL He shoulda' known to NEVER bet Yoda anything.
Yoda was presented very well, very loveable and real. Even the droids Solis and his comrade as having personalties. Even their agendas. Scout and WHie were some charactors. Interesting how the planet fo Vjun had such an effect on Whie.
