I am trying to figure out what Qui-Gons poncho is in tpm, any thoughts on what kind of material it may be? I was thinking maybe wool. But I am not sure. that wouldnt make too much sense because of how hot it would have been during filming. Thoughts?

To me it looked like those heavy mexican ponchos. Whatever those are made of. Just without the colours and stuff.

From what I have read, it was made from a wool blanket , just like the rodes, surplus Army Blankets, In Episode II they had to have Wool special ordered to make the Robes.
Looking for some Gray Coat wool to make some from.

I made a Qui-Gon type poncho out of a small table cloth. It is roughly woven (some type of cotton I think) and had finished edges. And it is blue and faded in places, so it looks worn. It was good fabric, but there wasn't quite enough of it to make anything that I wanted out of it. I couldn't figure out what to do with it for a long time until I realized that it was perfect as a poncho. I just added a border pattern with a Sharpie, using masking tape as markings to keep the lines straight..
The poncho is really just a piece of fabric, but just make sure you don't cut the hole for the head too big. I had to do a little improvising with some similarly colored jeans material after making mine too big, but I think the final result still looks good.
Did anyone notice that it's very similar to the poncho that Luke wore briefly in ANH? Luke's looks like it's made from two pices of fabric. I assume that this is the generic galactic poncho in the Star Wars universe.

several ponchos in the SW universe it seems, it's practical & comfortable and fit's a multitude of species. Looks like the same blanket type wool that they used for the robes, either taupe or tan/grey would be good.
