Hi. I'm new here so please pardon if these questions have been asked before. I looked but didn't see any such threads. If they do exist, please direct me to them. Anyway, these are my questions: 1. Would grey be considered a Jedi color? My main Jedi outfit is along the lines of a Prequel era Jedi, but in a medium to dark grey. The undershirt is black until I find a grey one that is to my liking. The pants are black cargo pants. While looking in the "costume requirements" section, I didn't see anything mentioning greys. I'm almost positive I've seen a grey Jedi outfit in either the Clone Wars cartoon or in the end battle scenes of AotC. 2. These are the boots I'm getting this weekend- www.journeys.com/catalog_detail.aspx?c=guys&s=shoes/Boots&id=5006. I think they have a good Clone Wars Jedi look to them, but others have said they look Sith, too. I'm getting them either way, but would the costume I've described exclude me from joining the Jedi Assembly? Would more pix help to make a determination? Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I can't resist.... That's sort of a "gray" area. Actually, I don't think that gray would be excluded though shades of brown are obviously closer to the movies. I think only all black costumes are explicitly unaccepatble. I don't think that black accessories like those boots are a problem. Are you sure they're high enough? Almost all Jedi boots I've seen go up to the knee.

"Grey area". I was waiting for that. The boots come to mid-calf. They're about the same height as the boots used for the Darth Maul costume. I was initially going to get the black boots from Museum Replicas, but I saw these and decided to go with those. They fit the look I'm going for much better.

I think grey is definitely fine for small stuff ie. belt, tabbards, as long as it isn't a major colour scheme ie. a grey robe. Vos langue est "tres" Canadien.

Remember too that grey is the Imperial Color for officers. I bought a pair of grey pants and after seeing photos of myself in them opted not to ever wear them again. Looks too imperial.........some greys mixed in might work but might still be better to go with shades of tan to brown.

If I bought those boots, I would have to get them re-soled. Don't need platforms, otherwise very cool!

I've posed your question about the grey Jedi garb to the Council and await their consensus. I may depend on how "dark grey".

Hi Tres, can you email a picture to Master Jorlac? It sounds like we would need to see it. You should read the TJA costuming guidelines, manyanswers are there.

As Nova said...usually if there is a "gray area", we usually ask for a photo...
bottom line really is...as stated...no black...
Black boots are ok...we have several members with black boots...
But shades of brown are what we consider "canon"...and used for LFL canon events.....so for things like CIII volunteering...only canon costumes should be worn....
We do have members with accents of Jedi Healer blue...and Corellian green...these are costumes that folks made for their "Character"...
But...shades of brown are considered canon...unless, of course, you are duplicating a costume like Aayla, Barriss, Luminara, or any other "non traditional" Jedi that has appeared in the movies.....
I think I have it right.... Yes?

Actually, one of my Jedi costumes has gray pants and a gray undertunic. The undertunic is light gray and the pants are medium gray. The boots and belt are black. The tabbards are a "peachy" brown and the tunic is a darker shade. Definitely not Sith, but stretching the envelope as far as canon goes. It's one of the pictures I sent for the CIII PowerPoint presentation. I wonder if I tossed everything into a little more brown or tan dye if that would push it solidly into canon? That should work on everything, though it might not take on the fabric of the pants.
