Well I finally got the courage up to really splurge on myself, and went and bought my dream guitar. I don't know if anyone here is as much of a music freak as me, but I know a few of you strum every now and then so I'll post the specs (bottom of the post) - Its a Maton EBG808, acoustic electric 000 size, all solid wood... and it sounds beautiful, sweet but really punchy tone. Hehe I know Ive lost everyones interest with my spiel, but I cant help it ;D. The money I spent on this guitar is the most I have ever spent on myself... including when I bought my car! I didnt take these pics (still dont have a camera), but my guitar is exactly the same as this one; photobucket.com/albums/v74/1b4unlucky/Maton%20EBG808/ Just had to share my excitement! ;D Maton EBG808 Soundboard AA Solid Sitka Spruce Rosette Herringbone Inner Binding White/Black/White/Black Outer Binding Black Back Solid Blackwood Sides Solid Blackwood Neck Queensland Maple Headstock Blackwood/Keyhole Fingerboard Rosewood/Dot Inlays Bridge Rosewood Finish Satin Pickup AP5 Pick Guard Black Machine Heads Grover Chrome Deluxe

Whoa....NIIIIICE guitar! I can play a little; a few simple chords that don't require me to tie my fingers in knots. Mine was sort of a 'fruitcake'; nobody wanted it. It's not a bad instrument. It may not the most expensive one, but it plays just fine. It think it's a Sunlite or something. First my sister was on a guitar kick, then lost interest in six months. Then my brother took it up. He didn't last long either. I've been playing (or trying to play) this guitar for about...two years now, and the only thing I really haven't learned to do is tune it. I know; that's just sad. Playing for two years without learning to tune???
But I'm really happy for you! Hope you have fun playing!

Wow, That's a beauty, was wondering about the Maton, until I remembered that you're from the Outer Rim, I don't play, but know alot of musicians, and really love a good guitar.

Awesome guitar, Seda! I play my dad's guitar that my mom bought for him in 1955 because he used to sing and strum a broomstick... but he never learned to play, so I adopted it! The sound is full, but quiet and it has f holes instead of a round hole. Made by "harmony", it's a copy of something, I think.... more sentimental value than anything.

Heh, this thread reminded me of something that I still find kind of funny.
20 years ago, I was dating a guy who played the guitar, his name was Duke Gibson (one of many musically inclined guys I have dated over 30 years {though last year I finally gave up on the idea ever finding the right guy }, I myself, have been a woodwind player, but I'm out of practice and have no more "chops").
Anyway.......Duke had an acoustic guitar, but he needed a new electric one, because he was joining a new band. He went to a pawn shop and found a Gibson guitar that was called "The Duke". So Duke Gibson had a Gibson "Duke" guitar! lol

that is amusing..........
I married a bit late (according to my family) at 29 1/2. I found out that I needed to stop looking for the right woman and start working on being the right man......after that I found the girl of my dreams...and was ready to be her guy. My family was not only ecstatic, but quite surprized because she was more than I'd hoped for (or they expected)......

Here's a surprise...I've never dated at all. Plenty of crushes, but only two guys ever returned my feelings. One turned out ot be a creep, and the other was shipped off to boot camp and I haven't heard from him since. From what I've heard, I'm not missing anything. I'd rather be single my whole life than have my heart broken over and over.
Just kind of a grouch about guys right now...sorry...

Never married or intended to be, but have been seeing the same guy since I was 15, for 33 years, I've always figured, it works just fine the way it is, but maybe someday I'll say yes, I doubt it!
