I'm looking for temporary hair dye. A friend is doing a Count Dooku costume, but he has dark hair. Anyone know of anything that can turn his dark hair grey?
I'm not considerding the spray stuff cuz it runs and looks pretty bad.

Normal people want to turn grey hair dark, not dark hair grey. Then again, normal people don't wear tunics, go to conventions, and see movies at midnight in a brown robe LOL. No, seriously, I doubt you'll find grey hair dye on the market.

You might consider the spray stuff for gray hair. I have seen it done well. I've also seen it done bad. I think it might depend on what brand you get. Do you know anyone who does theater? That's where the demand is for temporary gray hair.

The hair spray does tend to run when the wearer sweats or gets wet.(During the time fo MegaCon it's rained a few times. Hate for Dooku to melt.). It dries the hair to much. It kinda feels like straw. I'd rather have a wash in vareient, or something that won't damage his hair.

I'll check with the make up guy at work, if it's a temp dye that exists he'll know it. The spray can depend on brand & application. Have you considered a WIG?

No tenough money and a wig would be too thick looking. I doubt the guy would wear it anyway. :-)

You might want to check your local halloween type costume shops. I know the one near my house carries temporary hair coloring, that you apply like normal hair dye, but waches out in two or three washings. They are safe, won't ruin your hair, or make it fall out.

Jaiven, I work in a costume/Halloween store. , if it's made, I'll find out about it. Nomi uses all kinds of dyes in his hair.

Use white shoe polish. Use the kind that comes out of the bottle with a little sponge on the end. Whenever I am in plays and a character is supposed to be old, that is what we use.

I checked with my Mother-in-Laws, who has been in the business for over 35 years, there is not way to dye hair "White", at best you can get a light Blonde. But be warned your hair will be "fried" . You may have to cut it all off and let it grow back. In some cases if you try to dye it dark afterwards it may all break off from the chemicals.

I got pretty much the same answer from all 3 makeup people, there are no temp dyes that will make dark hair light & then wash out because you have to strip the colour to do that, so there is only the spay or combin type or as Shatir said, shoe polish. They all said that the comb in type is better than spray, they also said a wig would be best for this.
