My Jedi costume is just beginning to undergo sewing. This is what I have: TUNIC/OBI/TABARDS- Weaver's Plains in khaki, same exact texture as Mace Windu's AOTC tunic PANTS- 100% Cotton Dockers, Khaki UNDERTUNIC- Polyester blend, exact texture as Anakin's AOTC undertunic BELT: Large sheet of WalMart vinyl (vegetarian and proud BOOTS: WalMart brown rubber boots (see parentheses above) My question is, at Ben Franklin, the lady told me that I could go to JoAnn's and get some fabric made of wool. It was called "wool (and then a word that starts with an Sthat I don't remember.)" Does anyone know what it may be? Thanks alot. Also, what is a wool alternative that looks great for a summer robe?

Not sure if you want to go the route of polyester blrnd for an inner tunic...they tend to trap heat... As for boots, have you checked out CABoots, they have generic superhero boots trhat are vinyl anf are MUCH better than rubber boots. Rubber boots tend to look like rubber boots. Other wise sounds great

CABoots has a lot of nice boots but mostly expensive as, I've just noted, many are custom. caboots.zoovy.comVinyl tall brown men's boots caboots.zoovy.com/product/SUPERBGBRN1404 look like an excellent solution. I'd buy a pair just to have a second one if they came in a smaller size! For someone who wants leather, Jedi-like boots at a decent price ($75). The shaft is only 10.5 inches, which may be a little short on most people, though. caboots.zoovy.com/product/ENGINEERBRN Though they only come in "men's", I wear 7.5 women's but size 5 or 5.5 in men's will fit, too. Thanks for the tip. They have great stuff for costume needs!

If the undertunic is as thin as the one Annakin wore, the polyester blend may work fine. But you always have to try it out for a few hours, wear it under things, to really know how warm it will be to wear. Synthetics don't breathe as well as natural, so you're never sure how they'll wear until you do. A friend of mine told me that they make rubber riding boots that look good enough for competition. I couldn't say how good they'd look without seeing them, but rubber boots look a lot better than they used to. I'm surprised you found them in brown! They're almost always black. And there's something to be said about being waterproof. The usual lightweight alternative to wool for a robe is a medium to heavy weight cotton, or possibly a cotton blend. I don't know what the wool "S" would be, unless the "S" word is synthetic?

No, the word is definitely not synthetic.

Suiting, wool suiting. As for vinyl boots, we get vinyl boots at the store, they are costume boots and are usually about $30 a pair. I need to talk to the buyer & make her see that we need to get the brown boots, they also come in a very wide calf version, I'll get back to you all.
