Hi all I am just finishing up my Jedi Prequel robes and am looking towards doing a Luke Jedi Knight Jumpsuit. Now before you all post links telling to check here and there let me finish lol.
I have checked the ezboards that I can, I have talked to those att he rebel legion. Everyone seems to have done it a different way. What I was wondering. Is there a good set pattern to start with for the jumpsuit(all I really need). Some say the green pepper is a good one, others say it's horrible and soem simply make a pattern from a shirt or so.
Is there a simplicity pattern or otherwise that would require the less of a thousand modifactions?.
I really want this outfit to turn out well. But I don't want to disect 40 different patterns. I've heard civial war patterns are ok as well.
As I said I'm simply trying to find out which one those who have made one had withthe most success, the cloak, vest, sash are not hard at all, it's the pesky jumpsuit for me that's the trouble.
Or is there a site that sells the outfit at all that anyone can recall?.
I appreciate all your help as always and lok forward to seeing what we can come up with. Thank you very much for your time.

I assume you mean the ROTJ Jumpsuit right? You may want to check the tutorial at OJA: www.jedi-academy.com/jedi_tips.htmlThat has some good info. If you are talking about the ESB Fatigues then my advice is be patient - I am working on it

me too - the proto just went back to the seamstress - she is so great to work with.
There are only 2 costumes I always wanted growing up - Luke ESB Fatigues and Boba Fett - might have to get working on number 2 soon

Ok, not to get too OT but I am doing a BF right now. Oh my gosh. The prices of some of this stuff is, just wow! Between BF and Vader, I think they must be the most expensive.
Are you going to post the pics on your site when the time comes?

Well - I firmly believe that if you want high quality you have to pay top dollar. If I ask for help then I am ready to pay for the service. That kind of goes for any costume. Take the Luke ROTJ Jumpsuit (I hope that is the one you want) - I can safely say that it isn't a very expensive costume but if I were going to do it (and it is an option) I would buy top material and not go to "cheap" fabric - but thats just me. I know that whole Jedi costumes can be put together for well under $100 but as far as I am concerned you get what you pay for. My Luke ESB right now with belt, costume, blaster, and saber is at $600 before the boots - but again I am going for quality. This has been a labor of love over the past year. The Luke ROTJ Belt is actually quite easy to make so you can save some cash there. I would bet you can do a good version of the costume minus Saber for the $200 to $300 range - that is with a quality material. The Saber - well if you look around you can find them for $250 ish (*coughIhave1cough*) but super accurate is around $300 and then there is the MR ($500 plus) - so that is what drives the price up for the costume. Unfortunately finding a saber maker is getting harder and harder, LFL and MR have really cracked down on the market. I have a super accurate piece and I love it so it is worth the money - although I am not sure I would wear a saber I just paid over $500 for and is a numbered limited edition piece - but thats just me. These are those times when you should be signed up at joann's.com and hope you get that nice 40% off coupon in your inbox

I know what you mean about the quality thing, over time I've spent lots of cash (getting close to a couple of thousand now) on doing my Jedi costumes and I still need to do a better pair of boots, but, I like wearing them, so, there you are. Plus, I must admit, they are a good advertisement for myself as a costumer, and have had people commision me to make them costumes because they saw me in mine, or someone else in one I have made. It is true that some of the best canon fabrics can be gotton for very little cash (silk noile, osnaburg, linen, cotton gauze and Indian homespun plus a few others) but some are fairly expensive as well, and most of the items require a fair amount of yardage to really hang well, never skimp on the fabric, it will look worse than using a cheap fabric just about everytime. As short as I am, it still takes at least 8 yards of fabric to make a decent robe. More another day, it's closing time here at the internet cafe.

But anyway...getting back to what Jedi Zann was saying about the Luke ROTJ jumpsuit. I also am in the first stages of recreating this costume. I have the cloak started...that's no problem. However, THE JUMPSUIT. ARRAGGHHH!!! I ordered the Green Pepper pattern that Obi-Wan's Jedi Academy suggested. But you have to do many many modifications. There are things to take off and things to add. I'm with Jedi Zann on this one. Does anyone here have any suggestions? ? Also Jedi Zann, get with me if you have any ideas or no of anything. We'll try and help each other, ok?

I'm more of planning for it after I get a few other projects done and I have found someone who says they can make it, but haven't seen any pics of their work yet so I don't know as of yet where or how I'm gonna get it.
