Hi All, i'm brand new to this board (which stumbled across by accident)
Had a good look and theres lots of useful stuff.
Basically i'm looking to make my first Jedi costume, bought myself some fabric to make the costume with but i was wondering if anyone knew where i could get Simplicity patterns from in the UK also does anyone which patterns i need?
I think it's 5848 for the tunic and 7438 for the robe?
Any help would be Much Apprieciated
Cheers Padawan Stinger

Hey Stinger, Check the thread about Jedi Tunics. then Robes. I don't know pattern numbers cuz I didn't use them. Nova knows about patterns.;-) Right now she's in England and can't answer posts yet.

Simplicity 5840 is OK for the tunics, but needs modification for the undertunic. I use McCall's 2940 Kimono pattern but it, too, needs modification. I can't say if 7438 is good for the robe as the on-line pattern search doesn't have it. I made mine as first detailed by Amber www.rebellegion.com/jedigarb/www.rebellegion.com/jedigarb/robe.htmlI've made my own pattern based on it. If you want a copy, PM me your snail mail address and I'll make a copy to send. It requires a minimum of 8 yards of fabric...more if you're taller than 5'2" If you PM me your email, I'd be happy to send my entire costuming handout that I give to members of my local group. It is a photo tutorial.

Cheers for the help, Jedi kai i'll PM you with my snail mail and Email address, if you could send me some infos and/or patterns that'd be very handy. have started making my Garb just off the top of my head and using the movies as reference. Just completed the under tunic which is a basic sleeveless design with a high V in the neck and a pleat/dart under the arms to bring the whole thing into my body. based the design on my JuJitsu Gi and i'm going to see if i can modify it for the outer tunic, but it's only my first attempt at jedi Costume so i'll see how it goes, i'll try and post some pics when i'm done. Thanks all i'm sure i'll be posting later asking for more help

Stinger, Simplicity patterns are available in the UK, I know I just saw some in Milton Keynes, the store is a dept. store chain called John Lewis , but like a home/dept /superstore type place. There I remembered it! LOHN LEWIS.

Cheers Nova, i know the chain you mean but i can't think of the second name either lol,
I just found a shop near me that does the McCalls range of patterns, so i'll have a browse through there catalogues see if theres anything i can use.
mean while i've now finished the two tunics that i started, they don't look too bad despite the fact i didn't use a pattern lol, just need to finish the robe now and find some boots!
Again cheers for you help

See Above, It's John Lewis. Well, a lot of us don't use patterns, so, if it works........go for it! Let's see the pictures!
