I am so excited. I got my new boots back from being altered just one day before the Sci-Fi con in Dallas I attended last Saturday. I ordered the boots from JCPenny's on sale for 38.00 with tax (reg. 99.00). However my calf muscle is too big and they were too tall for my short legs. I found a boot repair store in town and he agreed to work on them. They turned out great! As an added I had him rivet my two belts together to make one for my costume. Total cost for the boots and the belt was $80 (38+42).
At the same time I had managed to sweet talk my mom into finally making a robe for my costume. It has only been 3 1/2 years since she made it. She finished it that night.
When I arrived at the convention the next day and finally had the entire costume on it looked great. My friend took several pics then beside my car before we went in. Later I got pics with several Stormtroopers, Darth Vader, Boba Fett, and some X-Wing pilots from the Rebel Legion. The pics are all up on my site at groups.msn.com/LongviewSW/dallascomiconapril.msnw?Page=1 I also got a picture with Zach Jensen (aka Kit Fisto) !!! That was the highlight. Not to mention getting my "Tales of the Jedi Special" gold foil limited edition comics signed by cover artist Dave Dorman! I wish we had snapped a shot of that with the camera though.
As you can tell I am still excited about it, and in case it isn't obvious this was my first convention (not counting the X-Files Expo in 98). I can't wait to go to more.
;D
