could you maybe dye the unbleache? I like ti but a Dark green would be neat. If I buy some of that fabric maybe I could send you a swatch if you have trouble finding it. I have never heard about it or seen it. I think Ill get a 1/2 yard wash it and see how it does.

I wonder if what they call Monk Cloth is the same as what I call Monk Cloth? If so I like it.

Is easy to dye unbleached fabric, it will take colour, doing it in any shade of tan, khaki, brown or green shouldn't be a problem. Pastels will shade off, but a pastel Jedi.....HeeHee.

Shopping around for the right fabric can wear even a Jedi's patience thin....
But don't give up on Wal-mart just yet. Now that holoween is approaching, many are stocking up on fabrics they they dont usually carry.
Good hunting,
Ris'sa

Well....the fabric arrived yesterday from Fabric.com...
It is WONDERFUL! I ordered the fabric on Thursday...it arrived yesterday...so they send it quickly.
The mid-weight linen-cotton blend in "Bittersweet" is gorgeous..a nice dark brown....nice and flowy....I plan to wash the fabric a couple times to shrink it before I sew it.
The lightweight blend in "Chestnut" seems a little cheesy ...but I think I will use it for tabbards and sash...
I shoud have ordered a little of the heavy weight cotton-linen blend to see if that would be good for a robe...but I have my hands full right now.
If you are having trouble with fabric...check it out... both of the fabrics were $5.85 per yard...not cheap but certainly not astranomical either....shipping is extra.
so....there is my report!

Anyone who would like a sample of the fabric... send me an e-mail .....my e-mail address is in the member's page....
I washed the fabric twice in hot water and let it air dry (I have no dryer)....it really didn't fray that much...that made me VERY happy.
I had a little time...so I laid out the Simplicity pattern - and cut it.....forgot the number but it is called "Go Global"...the pattern with the chinese/japanes kimono on the front... will let you know how it goes

The Go Global pattern # is on the easy to make Jedi patterns thread. Glad the fabric will work for you. Did the swatches I sent you arrive?

Nova... Yes...the fabric swatches arrived....neat stuff!! Funny how none of the fabric store clerks in my neck of the woods know that it exists....grrrrrrrrr
I plan on sending you a swatch of the fabric that I bought on-line...just to see what you think....
And Jade.... will send you out a sample of each of the two fabrics I ordered.....the dark one will be the mid-weight and the lighter brown will be the light-weight.
Thanks again SOOOOOOOOO much Nova for all your help during my fabric crisis!!
And Ryss....I will try and post a photo of the dark costume when I finish...but I have so many things going right now, it will be a couple of weeks till I get to work on it again.
Oh, yes....I got my" for real Jedi " belt from the Prop Palace last week too....it's too big! but I guess better too big than too small.

Always better to big than to small. What's the link? Was it expensive?
