Alright everyone, we all love the OT, but what is your favorite spoof. Mine is Spaceballs by far, specially 'cuz it was done by Mel Brooks............Thumb Wars was hoaky, but stupidly funny enough to watch a couple times. And to be completely honest, I've never seen hardware wars, but even so, it IS a spoof. So mark your fave and post a msg with any thoughts.

Hardware Wars by a mile! ;D I first saw this fantastic short fan film in 1983 or 84. The humour was hilarious- so many well thought out gags. For instance Princess "Anne-Droid" has cinnamon buns on the sides of her head to represent the Leia hairdo. "Chewchilla" looks like a brown furrier version of Oscar and sounds like Cookie Monster. The effects are so bad (I suppose on purpose) they are really funny. Flying toasters, irons, egg beaters, etc. When the "Death Star" opens it's bay doors to capture the Millennium Falcon, it is a waffle iron opening up. Artie Deco is an old vacuum, and 4-Q-2 looks like the Tin Man from "The Wizard of Oz". By far the funniest scene: Ham Salad, Fluke, and Chewchilla have just rescued the Princess and are returning to safety aboard the Millennium Falcon. Chewchilla takes one look at Princess Anne-Droid's hairdo, and begins eating the cinnamon buns! You have to see it to appreciate how funny it is. Here's a link to the IMDB entry and quotes from the film: www.imdb.com/title/tt0077658/quotes

Yeah, Hardware Wars is more succinctly funny. It kind of weakens at the end, but it's mostly a parody of a trailer of a parody of Star Wars, so that's OK.
That musical of ANH that they had at CIII was pretty good. Dancing stormtroopers and they gave Chewie a medal at the end.

Hardware Wars is kinda nostalgic for me because it came out when I was in high school dating this guy who was taking a film-making class in college and I helped him shoot 8mm footage of similar items. Only thing was that his films were part claymation. It was fun.

Never saw Hardware Wars so I can't comment - so I'll have to say Spaceballs. However TROOPS and IMPS are a close second...
