Has anyone checked out this free program? You can get it here: earth.google.com/This program is simply Amazing. Anyone seen that movie Enemy of the State? Well it gives you the ability to do what they did in that movie: use satellites to zoom in on any location in the entire world, most locations to the point where you can see individual cars and people! Its simply incredible, I recommend everyone try it, although I think that it might not work very well on dialup connections. EDIT: oops, meant to put this in Earthen Tap, if a mod wants to move it they're welcome

If you go to www.google.com/maps, put in address and then click the satellite link, you see you address and can zoom pretty close. I could tell the white van was parked in our driveway! But it's a bit old as it doesn't show the new housing that began building a year ago.

Yes! We have that! It's awesome! Have you seen the Geo-cache game? People hide stuff and using gps and google earth, you go and find it. There was one about .3 mile from my house in the woods, and another about.5 mile. My son found the one that was .5 and we're going to look for the other one tomorrow! I can really see myself getting addicted to this! I love hiking, and that makes it just all the more fun... like a treasure hunt!

I've done geocaching for several years now. Google Earth isn't really necessary to the activity. It's a tool, like other mapping programs. I use MapPoint to find the general area and a place to park. I've placed 3 travel bugs, all of which have gone missing, including my R2D2 www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?id=28520Golum just turned up again, happily. Google is a very cool company and Google Earth is amazing.

It sparked my curiosity when we saw people wandering through our woods. That normally doesn't happen! So a travel bug is an item that finders would transport from one box to the next that they find? I thought of doing that. It would be interesting to see how far it gets from where it started.

Yes, Leda, that's what a travel-bug does. People log them in and out of caches based on a number that'so n the dog-tag attached. Some of ours have gone thousands of miles before going missing.
