A similar pattern was once posted, after much research this is roughly what I did.

Suggestions....
- longer tunic - make the tabbards narrower so they don't hang off the shoulders so much and longer than the tunic. - double layer of the obi so it lays flatter. - a slightly contrasting color of the obi and tabbards makes them stand out a little more from the tunic, but that's a matter of taste. - darts in tunic top for a better fit. - add some flare to the bottom to fit better on the hips, especially if it's longer.

Yep you'er on a great track.:-D Great job by the way. The neat thing if the tunic's body is a little big, you can always use darts to pull in fabric.
