From my handout: home.comcast.net/~jedikai/Part1.pdf, also linked from our the tutorials section of TJA webpage. There are also several other tutorials there so it would be a good idea to look at all of them as each writer has a different take on making garb. Fabric and sources Making the entire costume could be fairly expensive, depending on the quality of the fabric you buy and whether you purchase or make accessories. You don’t have to do it all at once. If you don’t have the money or time, do what you can afford and regard it as a work in progress. I started with tunics make of inexpensive cotton as my prototypes. I then made my current set out of 100% linen. I would really recommend doing that. You can always use the cotton ones as a second set or give them to someone else. Many of us have two or more complete sets of Jedi garb to get us through the 2-4 conventions. By far and away the best source of linen is Fabric-Store.com www.fabrics-store.com/ You can purchase linen in a variety of weights and shades. It is all about 60 inches wide and is usually approximately $6.00 per yard. I’ve used them for years, even before making Jedi garb. Another source is Phoenix Textiles www.fabric.com/ They often have linen or linen-cotton blends, wool, cotton gauze. The prices and costumer service are also excellent. They are actually my favorite all-around fabric store. Tunics could also be made of raw silk. A good source of inexpensive silk noil in lots of colors is Thai Silks www.thaisilks.com/store/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=TS&Product_Code=0020 They have several shades of browns suitable for Jedi. The robes are made of wool. Wool can be had for abou $8/yd but most of the time it's more expensive. I would really recommend making a robe out of heavy cotton rather than spend that much money ($80-100) on something you've never made before and not have it turn out well.

A few other notes:
Buy the pants. Cotton or linen. No side or back pockets and inset front pockets only if you want them. I prefer elastic waistbands for comfort but others may like zippers. I have had no problems with finding suitable pants at the Goodwill.
Linen is durable, but it does wrinkle. I always have to iron my linen tunic, but it looks nice. DenverFabrics has good fabrics to choose from and they've always delivered promptly for me. Do you have a fabric store nearby? It's always best to be able to look at the fabric before buying.
Make the robe last. You don't need it for the costume and sometimes it's too hot to wear with the rest of the costume anyway.

Agreed. Linen softens with repeated washings but I still have to iron the tabbards and obi. I've got some linen blended with rayon that wrinkles less. I just bought some blended with tencel, so we'll see what that's like. I'm making a light steel blue set as a Jedi healer.

I need help getting the right type of fabric for and episode 2 anakin, I think I am going to use cotton gauze for the inner tunic, but the outer tunic and tabards I can not seem to find the right color of material, also need to know about leather looking material since I am planning on making a episode 2 anakin costume
