I have been thinking about what I want my costume to look like. Having an issue with the tunic. I was going to use the Ki-adi Mundi tunic. Not the whole thing...mostly just the arms. The rest would be a standard tunic. I have been looking at some picture and I am stumped on what to use in the wrists of the sleeve to thicken the fabric. Most of the pictures I have been able to find, when you look at the covering of the hand it looks kinda thick. Any insight on this would be appreciated.

I'll take a look and see if anything comes to mind.

Have you tried doubling, or tripling the fabric at the wrists and forearms?

One method would be a lining and an interlining. So that means in between the lining and the "fashion fabric" (sewing tech speak for the fabric on the outside, as opposed to the inside lining) you add a layer of a much thicker fabric.

Got my pattern this evening while I was out running around this evening...found one copy of 4450 simplicity...just happened to look at walmart and they had one left. There is a Jo'anns that is changing locations here...having a 40-60% off sale...going to stop in tomorrow and look at fabrics...any recommendations would be appreciated.

Natural fabrics only....that would include 100% cotton, raw silk, linen (though blended with rayon is OK and a little cheaper) and wool. Anything with polyester will make you much too warm. Most of the Jedi tunics seem to have been made of types of raw silk. You'll be unlikely to find that at JoAnn's. However, you might find linen or linen/rayon. Be careful NOT to get "linen-look" as that's poly. Read the fabric content on the end of the bolt.
If you can only afford cotton, try what they label "bottom weight" as that will be a little thicker. It needs to have some body to look right.
Jedi garb has many layers. Even with 100% natural fabrics you get very warm.

I ended up with 100% linen...was the only thing they really had a decent amount of left. Not a bad price though. I don't know if what I got for the robe is going to be right...I like the look of it though and it was 40% off so I bought it. Its Chocolate Muleskin...kinda light but I don't think it is going to breath very well. I will see though. It will be a work in progress for me since I still can't figure out how to put it together...lol

All my Jedi garb have been linen so far. Linen is good. Despite what Dressing the Galaxy said, the tunics on my big standee of Qui-Gon look like linen to me still. Any future tunics that I make will be raw silk.
Right. The Moleskin is poly so will be hot. It's also likely too light weight to really hang correctly. However, we do what we can do, and afford. Our costumes are a work in progress. If you don't like it, eventually you'll make something you like better and may pass or loan the old one on to someone who is just beginning the journey and has nothing.
We have a lot of tutorials on our main site that may help you figure out how to put it together.
