Would this work?
Someone on another board asked me if this would work and it does sound feasible. What do you guys think.
Say you got a brown or tan cardigan sweater a size or two too big and then just added a piece of velcro further along the top to make the "wrap" effect? The bottom might hang open, but it will be covered by your tunic anyways.

Wouldn't that be hot though? Actually the warmth might be good on Halloween. Not sure about the bulk, personally. But design-wise, I think it would work, as long as there are no buttonholes, and the weave is not too fancy.

Unless it was a very fine, light weave, it would be too bulky. It would have to have awfully long sleeves to ruck in a screen-accurate way at the wrists. Personally, it sounds like someone trying to put together a costume who can't sew. Not an unreasonable attempt, but it will look like what it is (an attempt) and won't look screen-accurate. It would be fine for a Halloween costume or for something less accuracy-intense as us or even the Rebel Legion.
I sound like an authenticy-maven, but really, a Jedi costume requires only basic of sewing skills.

Maybe, but I'd have to see it, mostly the proportions would be off & the weight of the knit is usually to heavy to work.

I'm sure that wearing a cardigan as an undertunic would be to hot with the tunic and tabbards over it. And what kind of fabric would it be made from? A lot of knits have synthetic fabrics and those can get warm.

Well, that looks better than I imagined. Still looks like a sweater and not a tunic, though.

It's fine as a winter under tunic. if it's a knit or aweave, cuz the Silk Jersy used for the movie under tunics isn't exactly like the bubble gauze we use. It's a heavier sturdier fabric. The cardigan will work with modificaitions.
