I've been giving this some thought & was wondering what everyone else does. I can reach my side pouches but I personally cannot reach my back pouch on my utility belt because I have a shoulder problem so I have to make other "pockets" in hidden portions of my costume to carry things, such as the obi & I'm thinking of adding something behind the tabbords. I was just wondering if anybody else had any other suggestions. Now I have read somewhere about people putting pockets in their robe sleeves--I haven't done that yet. But if you have your robe off are there any other suggestions? I do carry reading glasses (sometimes in a pouch & sometimes I've put them behind my tabbords for safe keeping but I'm uneasy that I might lose them if they're not secured in some way Drivers License, room key, $/credit card (those are not a problem). cell phone-fits in a pouch, mini digital camera, Kleenex & a few other items. Thanks

Well I personally would want a way to hide something out without making the costume hang funny. For instance it seems to me that pockets in the sleeves would make them drape differently. I have thought about hidden pockets in the side seam of a robe though. Almost like an overcoats pockets but hidden in the seam. Or you could of course put the back pouch a little more to the side and move some food capsules to the rear. That's my thoughts for now. If I have any sudden light bulbs go off I will let you know.

I wouldn't recommend putting pockets into the robe. It'd make it sway in an unnatural way.
I made my pants with side pockets, just like a pair of slacks. I keep some money, a slim wallet and my glasses in them. My outer tunic hides the opening so no one can see.
Unless you're real fussy about being absolutely movie accurate, you can also put extra side pouches on your belt.

I, too, use the pockets in my trousers. My cell phone slips under the obi (see the first Amidala apartment scene in Ep II when Obi-Wan pulls a scanner out from that spot...I slapped my forehead and thought, "cell phone"). Since I also wear a narrow belt under the obi to keep the tabbards in place, I clip one of those id-badge clips that have an extending line and fasten the cell phone to it as I've had it fall out. I've also made a small pocket in the obi for ID and credit card. Another way to keep ID, credit card and a bit of money is a small neck bag. See page 2: home.comcast.net/%7Ejedikai/JediBags.pdf

This is interesting. I've put & am putting a hidden pocket in the obi behind my belt. This works pretty well. I'm toying with the idea of maybe making a fabric pocket out fo lining material to put inside the inner tunic or behind a tabbord, maybe. I saw it to where Obi-Wan put the scanner out from his tabbord(or at least I think that's where it was) I've used a small neck holder the only problem is getting to it in an un-obvious way. I had 1 hanging on my shoulder & it slipped down & needless to say it didn't work out too well. I wouldn't put anything in my sleeves that would , think feel awkward. I do have a small pouch that was made to the color of my tunic, which I've hung around my belt off to the side & it stays under the robe & no one can see it. I've got to do some thinking on this. The ideas are good. Thanks

behind the tabbards could be a place for two pockets. My son has a scarf that has hand warming pockets in the ends of it. it wraps around his neck and hangs down like tabbards.
also behind the Obi sounds good (or a slim piece of leather behind the belt as a sort of pocket.).
side seam pockets in the pants are good as could a breast pocket inside the tunic.
If I were to put pockets in my robe I would try to put them on the sides near my ribcage...it seems like they would hang better there and still be reachable.

I've put pockets in the sleeves of my robe, but they're for small, light things and I put velcro at the openings to keep anything from coming out.
I've put pockets in the side seams of the robe, just under the sleeves. They don't show up there if the fabric is a dark color.
And I've put in a small pocket on the inside of the obi for flat things.
For buying things at cons, I just made a bag out of leftover robe material, so it will match the outfit.

you have money to buy things at CONs?? Shocking, isn't it? I don't get out much, so I save up for them. And you can still use a bag to carry your food and snacks, too.

Yeah, I use the leftover fabric to make bags of different types, so, some match the tunic and some match the robe, or I just use what's leftover from either, with me, not usually a problem, fabric is always in piles. I buy by the bolt with some of them.

I've put ahidden pocket inside my obi & it works well for the flat items. I was going to attempt something with the tabbords but couldn't figure out the best way to do it to make it look right. Especially if you put glasses in it.Though I might attempt something inside the outer tunic as a side pocket, I'll have to give it some thought. I do have a purse & tote made out of tunic fabric to wear under my robe for events, if needed, which I usually do. There is always something to carry somewhere--like schedules, etc. Thanks for the ideas.
