Calm yourself. I have exactly the same problem with an undertunic. I cut the fabric anyway, but haven't sewn it together yet. And I've recklessly gone on to the outer tunic for which I have plenty of extra fabric for. It's gone off without a hitch.
The best place to look for courage is in the Force:), and in clothes that you already know fit the way you like them to. Hold the parts of the clothes up to various pattern pieces and see if they have similar areas of material, including seam allowances. If there's the same amount or more, you're likely on solid grouund. If there's less, look at what you can modify. Especially look for places that might be narrower than on the clothes that fit.

I know what fabric you mean. Leda, you posted this thread twice, you're definitly stressing. Be calm, you've made this tunic before, I think.

OMG!!! I must be losing it!! LOL!! Nova... just pick one to delete for me! I am a bit nuts right now... and my house looks like a twister came through! But do you think I should cut it on dollar fabric first and pin it together to try it on? Or maybe it wouldn't hang the same and the look would be deceiving.... hmmm...

Which fabric is it? I thought you meant the fabric that your tunic is made from. The heay crinkle cotton. If not, yeah do a mock up, then cut the real thing, if you do the muslin/mock in a natural thing, you can use it as an undretunic.
