I made a new tunic. I bought a coat from value village for $12. I removed the sleeves, lining, and lapels. It now looks fairly decent as Jedi garb. I just wrap my belt around it and it's good to go. If I can get my hands on a digital camera I'll post a pic.

It is tan, very Jedi-ish. Only about half the original material from the coat is still there. But for $12 a coat is worth butchering to make a decent tunic.

Cotton and polyester. I just cut up a rain coat basically. It has a nice length to it and I took out the lining so its just the outer shell. It fits good and its cut up the back so I can move a bit.

I've made one our of a grey bathrobe, though it doesn't fit anymore.

If I can get my hands on a digital camera I'll post a pic. That's exactly how I made my very first attempted Jedi garb many years ago. I went to the Salvation Army thrift store and bought this old tan linen dress, and cut it to pieces. I didn't know how to sew yet, so I just hacked away at this thing until it looked like a tunic of sorts. It ended up being too small, so my younger son wore it for Halloween that year as a young Anankin podracing costume.
