Can't seem to find any existing thread on Star Wars Kotobukiya stuff, so I started one.
I just bought both of the EP3 Kotobukiya Vader currently out in the market. Not 2 different designs, but the same design with different chest plates.
I took a picture of them side by side for comparison, On the right, the one that came out first, which has the upper part of the chestplate in reverse order, and the red button on the bottom part of the chestplate on the wrong side.
The 'rectified' one on the left, which was released later has the upper section in the correct order, but the red buttom on the bottom part is still on the wrong side.
Think Kotobukiya will be releasing ANOTHER ONE with the red button on the correct (right) side?
However, what boggles the mind is, the photo of the Vader figure on the packaging on both varient shows it with the upper section of the chest plate in the correct order.
So could it be that the one with the error on the chest plate was actually detected, put aside, but somehow someone thought they've been approved for release and packeged it for distribution?

The left one is accurate to the ROTS suit:

Yes, I've since found out that the EP3 Vader chestplate has the red button on the left hand side, while the EP4 (and V & VI) Vader chestplate has the red button on the right hand side...
So the mistake was Lucas Film's and not Kotobukiya's...

It's only a mistake if you believe that Vader is wearing the exact same thing for twenty-odd years...

Wait til "Dark Lord" comes out to read. You'll find that the armor malfunctioned a lot in the beginning and probably needed pieces to be replaced and repaired

Well, the rest of his suit didn't change any over the 20-odd-years, so why should the red button? ;DYou must've missed the green button on the chest box, the completely different shoulder bells, symmetrical helmet, the gloves and all the other changes the new suit brings to the table. Believe it or not there's pretty noticeable changes to the suit between ANH, TESB and ROTJ as well. It's not a new occurance.

Nice Vader's there. Yeah, the suit has gone through numerous changes from III to VI. Shoulder bells attatched to armor then unattatched. Gloves with horizontal and then vertical pleats. Chest box changing numerous times. The belt buckle getting an extra slot. The helmet alone had at least 5 or more changes from movie to movie (I may have exaggerated, but I'm pretty sure the helmet changed a few times). I believe Vader had a closet of different variations of his suit. You know, formal, work-wear (destroying rebels was dirty work), and casual wear.

Ok, I know about all the changes mentioned, but they're like the difference between a 15 inch rim and a 16 inch rim. Different? Yes. Significantly different? No.
I suppose the most drastic change was in the helmet, but its still instantly recognisable as 'Vader's Helmet', and will never ever be mistaken as anything else...

Actually the change of the shape and design of the shoulder bells is a much more drastic change than the color of a button.
Don't get me wrong, I love the new suit. It is as "Vader" as all the other ones are and it's the version I'm going for in my Vader costume. But if you're going to get technical and picky about one thing why not all of them? You said it yourself, is it a significant difference and does it make the costume less "Vader" than the others? Nope.
