I figgered my first post should be one where I introduce myself.
I've been a Star Wars fan (more or less) since I saw the first movie in a theater in the Philippines when I was about 11 years old. I played the original WestEnd Games D6 roleplaying game when it came out in the mid-1980's and absolutely loved it.
I swore off my Star Wars fandom for a while (after Episode 2) but then dove right back in after seeing Episode 3 and playing Knights of the Old Republic on my old XBox.
Knights of the Old Republic and its sequel was really the main driving force into my renewed and ever-strengthened interest in Star Wars.
Unfortunately, I really haven't been able to find and hang out with other Star Wars fans. My life is WAY too busy so I never got into Star Wars Galaxies and I never attended any Star Wars fan conventions.
I started my own meetup.com group, hoping I can meet a few fellow Star Wars enthusiasts who live nearby. I'm meeting a few people in less than a couple of hours, as a matter offact, and hope that I can meet new people through this site as well!

Thank you so much for the kind welcomes and information! I joined TJA because I'd like to assemble a Jedi costume modeled after the Jedi Master Sifo Dyas character (for myself). Unfortunately, I know nothing of costuming and really don't have enough time or skill to create my own costume. I therefore need help -- a lot of help. And so I turn to the TJA.

We are happy to help as best we can via the internet. However, I'd recommend you form contacts locally as if you know nothing, than you're going to need in-person help. First, you'll need to learn to sew. I'd actually suggest a class somewhere, either at a community college or community center. Those of us who made our own costumes started with some level of sewing knowledge.

Hi Ky! And thanks! Master Kai, due to lack of time and skill, I think I will resign myself to simply buying a ready-made costume online. If I can't make my own costume, I figger I would like to support the business endeavors of fellow Star Wars enthusiasts. Question: Will a Rebel pilot costume (with a lightsaber prop) qualify me for TJA membership? Or do I need the actual Old Republic style of Jedi robes, tunic, etc.?
