I will be the first to admit that I am strictly a "Prequel Era" Jedi costumer....and don't actually follow the comic books nor the Star Wars gaming...
So...
I guess I am wondering.. what are the new and most popular Jedi from the Expanded Universe?
Please let me know by posting here.. and.. if possible... post photos/scans

The biggest ones I have seen have mostly been Bastila Shan and Visas Marr from the Knights Of The Old Republic Video Games. Bastila Shan Visas Marr This pic is a by a Cosplayer named Estel. This is what I want my robes to be. These are also from Knights Of The Old Republic but these are the basic Jedi Robes you are given in the game once you become a Jedi. I have tried to contact her personally but to no avail.

Where was this taken? The outer tunic/robe appears to be a lot like Ki Adi Mundi's outer robe... Ki Aid's it is basically a Jedi robe w/hood but without sleeves and an eliptical hem.... the girl in the photo appears to have the hood and eliptical hem...but has sleeves.... tight sleeves..which are unusual for the Jedi... Also...none of the Jedi wear black... no black boots...no black pants... I would imagine that the girl in the photo created her own character...

Isn't Visas Marr darkside? I don't know her story at all but that's been my impression from posts about the costume (and that red lightsaber).

Master Kai, Visas Marr starts out dark side, but she is redeemed by the Jedi Exile (Main Character) in the game. This is according to the Light Side version of the game which is supposed to be the canon version of the game. Master Schph, I know the boots and pants are wrong. But the outfit it self is based on the game, but like you say unique character. The gallery I am linking to is a collection of pics of the basic Jedi Robes from Knights Of The Old Republic 1. These are the robes I want a set of eventually. Such a popular game, but other than the pic above I haven't seen those robes used before. KOTOR Robes Gallery

the thing is that picture of the bottom costume is from knights of the old republic era, they didn't have the preconceptions of color for jedi, jedi had a lot more freedom with their clothing during that time period, so unlike us here, that is not uncommon for the time period. Sure now black isnt in jedi clothing, but in that time period noone really cared, that was during the sith wars and after area.
What you said about no black is true after the knights of the old republic era, but during that time it wasnt a nono

Such a popular game, but other than the pic above I haven't seen those robes used before. There in lies the problem.... fan recognition... I guess I have been trying to determine which Jedi characters from the Expanded Universe are the most recognizable to "everyday fans". From a certain standpoint many of us make costumes not only for ourselves...but to be able to go out and do events and have Star Wars fans get excited about seeing the costume. That is difficult when the character is unknown to the average Star Wars fan. "Star Wars" Celebrations are unique in as much as chances are pretty good that any SW costume will be recognized by somebody at an all SW event.... But...going out and doing other local events.....not so much... The Clone Wars movie and cartoon series and the new games are "hooking in" the younger generation...so it is pretty difficult to determine what will be "hot" when these younger kids get of "costuming" age...

im not saying to let in the black pants thing, im just clarifying, I understand what your saying completely though schph. Most people dont recognize the KOTOR games and stuff, which is sad because they are AMAZING.

Master Schph, I guess I never thought about the costume recognition at events. It does make me want to re think things a bit now...

yeah see I have a custom character so I do have black in my costume, tabbards and boots, but boots was only because when I got them you could not find brown boots here and online wa s still a miss. Eventualy I'll get brown ones.
Right now I have a set of brown tababrds as well so if there is a formal occasion I have a set.

lol...I have black boots too...for now I wear them with my smuggler and Imperial Officer... but.. they can always be pressed into service if I can ever get all my other projects done.. and make something "sith" or unique ... I even have the yellow/red Sith contact lenses that I have never used...

Well, Luke Skywalker brought black into the Jedi color palette for post-Saga Jedi. If you took the basic Jedi look of tunic, tabbards, robe and lightsaber and did it with colors (nothing too bright) and maybe dome accents like embroidery or trim or beading, then it likely would be recognized as a Jedi. And probably acceptable for either post-Saga or very early Jedi.
The thing is that most people who would not recognize a very exotic EU Jedi would also not know that basic prequel Jedi only wear brown tones. So, if the design were still recognizable they would still be identifiably Jedi.
Aren't there a lot of very-old-Republic comic books with Jedi? I haven't read any of them but the pictures I've seen have recognizable outfits.
