The Obi wan rots/ luke rotj style sabers are harder to swing around and do special tricks with, the best for that are the PT style sabers, but the Graflex based sabers are even worse. The reason the lower grip section is uncomfortable is the same reason yours was probably fine if yours was thinner. The wiper grips increase the diamater of the saber by far too much, you just cant get a good grip... ironic really

I suspected that might've been the case with the Obi-Wan/Luke sabers, although I also thought that the emitter being so much higher than the upper grip might've created a suitable balance point. Do you find that yours digs into the top of your forefinger as well? I have to admit, I do like the wiper grips, but it definitely has to be on a thin tube to work properly ;D

Hmm I don't really have a problem with it myself, maybe its the size of the saber you were weilding Its so hard to describe this stuff

I have a feeling it's to do with the saber too... It's funny, when I was younger, the 'toy lightsabers' were little more than blue torches with clear plastic blades on the end... When the plastic versions of Luke's/Vader's sabers came out with TPM, I was pretty impressed with them by comparison... Having now realized how completely innacurate the scale of them is, they're nothing in comparison to metal sabers (blade-less of course, to keep proper scale )

I hold mine like a samurai. Hands spaced apart, one near the pommel(Left hand) and the other hand two or three fingers widths above it. I do a "push pull" type of strike to control were the blade goes. Sometimes I use only one hand and fight fencing style, or two handed and sometimes flipping the saber backwards with the blade pointing downwards. Sometimes my grip is more like Palpatine's in ROTS. (I can move like him if I have too.)

However, as I also know how to fence 'European style', I made my saber so it could also accomodate Form II use as well as Form III and Form V (Closest equivelents to kenjutsu)

It's a good idea to know differant styles and gripes since it helps to perform the movment riht.
