So I'm gonna ask my dad to drive me to Lowe's/Home Depot tomorrow. I want to get all the stuff for this lightsaber: bigyellowbox.tripod.com/plans07/main.htmI want to dual with it and I was thinking, what the heck do I need for the blade?? Once the hilt is made, what do I need for the "crystal," the blade, and whatever else? EDIT: After reading the rest of those directions, I see there's directions for a PVC blade. Can I just replace those directions with Fiberglass or Acrylic or something? Please help a newbie

well... that tutorial seems quite specific for use with PVC blades. To switch to Acrylic or Fiberglass, well, I think you'd need the same size piece as the PVC... 40 " by 3/4" diameter. Cut the back end off of the male adapter so it's just the threaded end and the hex shape back. There should be a big hole through it still. Grind/sand the tip of the new blade (this is why I'd worry about trying fiberglass) so it will fit inside the threads and secure it with epoxy or some high strength glue. Follow the instructions for placing the hose coupler on the rod, then instead of riveting it (assuming it's solid instead of a hollow tube) use a screw to attach it (you would need to pre-drill a smaller hole first where the screw would go). that should do the trick for you. That was all made up as I went along... that's how I would do it if I were making that saber. I'm not sure if it would work, it sounds to me like it would... but there are no guarantees . Hope I helped

If you read the details of style II, it indicates the inside tube remains open so a blade can be added. That's what I did. Details in the email to you.

Kai, I asked a while back for directions on how to modify Style 2 to hold a blade, but you said something about how your computer was too slow and unreliable to check it. Can you email me the same thing you gave Pet-Cr?

No, my computer is just fine, thank you very much. 2.60 GHz! The email limit is 5mb and the file is larger. However, I remembered that I had uploaded some photos of how I used some lawn sprinkler parts to form a tube inside the lightsaber to hold the blade. Start here public.fotki.com/Kait/star_wars/host/1.html and the next 2 photos after show the idea.
