I don't have any of the complex tools that I could use to build a lightsaber myself, nor do I have the money to buy something real expensive. I was just wondering if anybody would be willing to sell me an old one or know of any websites where I could purchase one. I say the most I'd be able to spend is about 40 or 50 bucks.

Cailumm, Ryan at Randomsabers seems pretty reasonable. He quoted me a price under $70 to build my design based off the Ki-Adi Mundi saber. And a price under $100 for the Obi-Wan based saber. You can see these sabers in my "New Saber Designs" thread in this topic. Other than building a "Hardware" saber, that's the most reasonable pricing I've found.

I've already tried random sabers and as far as price is concerened I'm going to have to shell out about 215 dollars for a lightsaber. Maybe I asked the wrong questions and maybe I'm just bad with math but $215 seems a bit more than $70. I think that my best bet would be just to go with a Graplex.

Have you tried bigyellowbox.tripod.com/? I am currently building style 8 with a few twists. For example, mine will have a blade made out of a golf club with no head attached by a manifold stud to a ?? "thing" I made out of a couple of fender washers, a bolt spacer from lowes and a nut on top to screw the whole thing attached pretty much by friction into the tube with a little solder I had laying around. It took me not much more than half a day to make it just that I am now trying to figger out how to put the led's into the tube which is around 8-10 in. long and I cant get my fingers that far to tighten the little nuts on the switch. Looks like I am going to have to sacrifice some kind of pliers for the "cause". Thank you dollar store for cheap tools!

Single bladed, double bladed? What wa steh design? The only way Ryan even hits 200 on a single bladed saber is if teh machine work is difficult, or the metal is not aluminum. Hes not unreasonable

lemme see if this works home.elp.rr.com/pi8tures/saber.jpghome.elp.rr.com/pi8tures/dual blades.jpg Hmm...The first one is style 8 in the works. The second is what I used to make cheap sabers out of a couple of those bulbs that you stick under your honda to make it look "cool" (ticket magnets). Chop off the small end and remove the broken flourescent tube inside and paint it green or orange or paisley if you like. Do not duel with these. They break like glass into little pieces. Its just for taking cool pictures of yourself to rotoscope. I got them free from a customer at autozone who broke the big one somehow. Speed bump perhaps. Now thats what I call a budget saber--free .

Primrodo, I didn't give him a design. I just told him I wanted something cheap with an EL blade. He told me there would be an extra 145 bucks for that. I don't have that much cash.

Geezer, I'll check out big yellow box, but the links on your last post don't work. Thanks.

no, they sure don't but not to worry. they just have to be typed in to the address bar: home.elp.rr.com then scroll down to 'pi8tures' and there they are (I think). Sorry they don't work but I just started to try and use this free server space I have been wasting all this time for something useful and I'm not very good at it. Lemme know if it still doesn't work. Oh, btw, the other address is : bigyellowbox.tripod.com/ I seem to have put it sdrawkcab.

EL ain't cheap, even if you make it yourself. Electronics isn't the cheapest thing in the world, and considering what Parks and Lighttech charge its about fair. I don't use EL, and my saber from him cost 50 bucks. Just a standard hit and its great for dueling...which I still wouldn't do with EL.
