Does anyone know any star wars/sci fi conventions that will be happening in Australia? Talk about being on the Outer Rim - we get nothing here

There's Supanova in Brisbane in April, and in Sydney in October. I went to Sydney Nova a couple of weeks ago, where Jay Laga'aia was one of the guests. www.supanova.com.au/The Terror Australis Garrison of the 501st had a large stall there, and a big turnout, so even though there was only one SW guest, the fans were out in force

Theres not many.
When I lived in Brisbane I looked for other scifi costumers but the only ones I found were a couple of Matrix fans that turned up to the cinema in costume.
That was before they did a supernova in brisbane though so I dont know if theres more now though.

Hardly any Australians here? Well, I've been around for about a year or so, and you are number 2, counting both full members and message board members. and thats including me! So yeah, stick around! Maybe you can help me find some decent boots in this country...

Wow... that's so surprising that there are so few around! I've been trying to get out there and find other costumers, and it's going well so far. I met a bunch of people at Sydney Supanova, and with the revival of the Australian Costumers' Guild, we are trying our hardest to help people organise chapters in other states. We have a very active Fan Force in SA and are even going to make a fan film (just for some crazy fun), we even started lightsaber training. We have quite a few jedi too Here's my jedi costume as it is at the moment, but I'm going to remake some bits and pieces soon. www.starfirephoenix.net/jedialison.htmI found the boots the easiest to find. Around this time last year, I bought some (ladies) boots from Betts on sale for $119. They are the most comfortable boots ever. I even still saw some of them around a few months ago on sale, reduced by even more. They are made by RMK. I don't remember the name though, but a friend of mine picked some up on ebay second hand. He had them stretched a little though because they are ladies boots and not particularly wide... though they look great! www.starfirephoenix.net/Images/sw/jedi/jediboots1.jpg

Thank you It's great fun at Supanova.... At the last one in Sydney, I hung out with the Terror Australis Garrison of the 501st because the friends I went up with are members, and they were lots of fun to hang out with. I can't wait to go again

So, check back soon for updates We will have photo galleries and a forum and lots of other fun stuff.
