Greetings!
I am finding that the animated background is messing with the speed of my system.. makes forum browsing very frustrating.
Any thoughts?

What browser are you using ... I use Firefox, IE, Modzilla, and have no problems.

Is anyone else having this problem? It's the first time anyone has mentioned this problem since the boards went up.

Well I am using FireFox and my wife is using Windows 2000 and we are on a cable modem. This is the only site we have this problem on.
Text is slow to appear when typing and the cursor flashes on and off. I am thinking it is the background... though I am not 100% on that.

Hmmmm .... that's my setup ... What version of Fire Fox? Have you tried another browsers to test if it may be a browser problem or another setup.

I'm using Netscape on Windows XP on a DSL. But I have colors set to always use my defaults, so I never see the background on this page. Perhaps that would help with this page?

I have problems at times to i think it is just the speed of the internet at times that messes with some sites

I've never had trouble like that with the background. Once in a while I run slow, but that's probably due to the cable network being busy, or I need to clean the cache, or something.

I haven't been able to use Firefox or Morzilla as the command graphics wouldn't appear ("reply" etc) I've HAD to use IE. Now with Firefox 1.5.0.1 it finally works.

Well, for me I've always noticed a strange bit with the cursor on this site: it seems to flash oddly fast, and is hard to follow, but my typing shows up at normal speed. But I type pretty slow, so I may just not notice it...

I did some testing, and its definately conencted to the background. I saved a copy of the background and created a page with it... same issues though not as drastic. I then removed the image and no problemo.

That's really weird ... I have been coming to this sight for almost 4 years, as of 3/27 and I have never seen this problem.

Same here... the background is one of the features I love about our message boards!

Well then don't worry about, there's no need to change the site for one person when its been enjoyed for years by others.
I noticed the problem, and figured I would mention it. Obviously this wasn't the most wise thing to do.
I think I will quiety roam the forum for awhile and see if the problem persists... I will also use this time to decide if I will be putting together Jedi robes and such to attempt membership.

That last post sounds harsh... it didn't come out the way I intended.
