Im sorry if this question had been touched upon, I can't seem to findit in any of the archives.
But how do you keep your hood on when you walk? I know when i walk the air gets in and pushes it off my head.
Kinda kills the dramatic affect! =)

But how do you keep your hood on when you walk? "Use the Force, Luke..." Sorry, I couldn't resist. Wait 'til the hood turns inside out -- that's really cute, too. Seriously, I think some people wear a cap underneath and pin the hood to that. Of course, that makes another issue -- sort of like the problem of blade in/blade out on the saber hilt. You have to plan ahead...

I have found that if you wear a soft brown felt hat under the hood that helps keep it up. But if you take the hood off, you have to find a place to put the hat. A comb, sewn on the inside of the hood to fix it to your hair might work. I've also considered short elastic straps sewn on the inside, but I haven't tried that or the comb.
I generally go with the hood down, because I can never keep it up for any time longer than having a picture.

I use the comb method ... if you place them correctly the can not be seen when the hood is down ...

Ive have a very small loop of material sewn into the hood on one of my robes. When the hoods down you cant see it but when its up I can use a brown hairgrip through the loop and my hair and it keeps the hood in place. Ive still got to get around to doing it with my other sleeveless outer robe but it works a treat.

The brown loop (embroidery floss would work) is a really good idea. I like it better than the pin as it's less trouble than to unpin the comb.

You can also get an elastic that has loops, that is made for putting combs in hats, cmes in blk, wht. Brown and tan usually. Easy an it streches for easy put in and removal.

I tried pinning a comb into the hood of my robe and it worked very well at keeping it up. I just want to think of a good way to conceal it.
Leda: whenever I have clothes that fall off my shoulder, the cause always seems to be that the collar is too big. For my robe, I only have six inches in the middle of the back of the robe where the collar is attached and a little more than that on the front (because the front of the robe where the collar is attached is curved downward to fit my neck better). It sounds small, but because the robe is so loose, it works out just right.

My Robe hood stays on just fine, without anything holding it on, maybe your hair has something to do with it.

The hood should be at least 2 yards of fabric. That much fabric becomes a sail if there's even a slight breeze. Thus the problem.

I have a shaved head and if I don't shave the day before I have to wear a hood then the top of my head is like velcro, problem solved... for me.
So this has me thinking about maybe taking some type of a hair comb like Kai has and rather than pinning it into the hood you could apply some rough velcro to it. Any time you want to wear the hood you put the comb in your hair and then move the hood to the position you want it in. Just a thought.

Or, you could stick some velcro to the top of your head.... Thanks, Ani... I realized that my collar was too wide. Making it smaller helped a great deal.
