Hello,
I am considering buying a robe from OuterRobes.com, but I have some concerns. I emailed them to ask if I could get a fabric sample. I also told them I'd be happy to send them a couple dollars for a swatch. They replied and said they don't send fabric samples because it's against company policy. (Is customer service against company policy?)
So if anyone already owns one of their robes... can you tell me what is the fabric like? How thick is it? I have a couple of samples from other vendors. Those samples are OK, but if I hold one up I can still see a little light through it. I'm looking for something a little thicker.
I appreciate any advice you can offer.

If they won't send a fabric swatch, I'd say don't buy from them. The website says the robes are made of "a heavyweight flannel material which means that they will "pill" when machine washed. "
Personally, I don't like flannel for Jedi robes. It doesn't look screen accurate to me. Their design looks quite authentic. Too bad they don't use wool

its not that they dont like customer service, its that if they cut a small patch off for you to see, then they have to cut the fabric entirely differently, which leaves room for much waste. but i do agree with kai.......if they wont send you one then i wouldnt go for it

Seek another you should. Wool is very nice, but I only wore my wool one once, sold it, to hot. Bought other fabrics.

I'd be cautious

Flannel isn't canon. Unless it is WOOL flannel, but they don't say that.
I agree. Once the robe is cut out, there is PLENTY of excess fabric out of which to make swatches.

kai...i agree...i think their design is great, but since they dont specify wool flannel, it's probably not. i think they'd advertise it if they could...besides for the prices at which they sell their robes...not much profit if the whole thing is wool. olos, now that u say it...i'd agree that they probably dont make their own costumes....i've watched their site...tempted to buy for years...and they're always "waiting of fabric" or something like that. i've emailed them...asking if they ever sold "seconds" ...ya know...robes with small errors that were unfit for general sale. they said that their seamstress was perfect and that they never had "seconds"
also note that their robes arent custom made they come in three distinct sizes...which may be ok for some people, but if you're like me...right at 6 feet tall...the med robe will prob. be too short/small while the large might drag the ground.
