Here is the robe made of MOLESKIN(no real moles were harmed in the production of making this thing.) This was used with ALL of the Simplicty Pattern 4450. The only thing we changed on it, was we lined the hood to give it more weight, and it turned out pretty well. Plus one good thing I got to work on the cloak a little bit by myself, but my grandmother did all the rest of the major work. ^_^ I'll get better pictures of everything outside when it's sunny out. Just waiting on the ground to dry up so I'm not running through mud and dog mines. All other pictures can be found here: s27.photobucket.com/albums/c196/hathor_sg1x/Jedi%20Costume%202006/

Oooh, looking very nice. Give your grandmother a hug. It photographed as a very reddish-brown. Is that the actual color? How does it feel with the rest of the costume? Is it very warm? You can never tell those things until you try them out.

It's more a brownish-red, I was aiming for Obi-Wan's colored robes, but this was near as close as I could get with it. I wasn't fond of the cotten, I like soft things so I had to have this made out of the moleskin lol I haven't put the cloak on yet over everything my taberds are still incomplete they just need to be hand sewn into place and like I said above I'll get pictures of the entire thing on a nice sunny day. The cloak heat wise today was well, but I've been cold all day so I welcomed the little extra wramth it offered. I don't know if you saw the picture of my hood, but that picture I didn't adjsut anything on, it was taken outside but that's the color of it. Oooh, looking very nice. Give your grandmother a hug. It photographed as a very reddish-brown. Is that the actual color? How does it feel with the rest of the costume? Is it very warm? You can never tell those things until you try them out.

polyester. A cheaper version of ultrasuede, which is still polyester Actually this wasn't cheap, well here in Michigan anyway. I paid $9.99(per yard) for 10 yards of it.(had to go buy another two yards) So out of everything on this outfit along with props my cloak is the most expensive part of it.

you paid 100+ dollars in fabric for a robe, wow Yes, 100.00 was spent just on the cloak. my fx lightsaber I paid 87.00 for was cheaper. Total for fabrics/props/boots was a grand total of: $406.00

That's reasonable, by the time I'd finished getting my boots redone until I was happy with the look & fit they were about $350 but I won't need another pair, of course I might get another pair someday anyway. I'll admit, I'll spend more on a costume than on everyday clothes. We don't want to talk about the $2000 + I spent on an Elizabethan I did once, at least Jedi don't need trim, that's where the real money goes down!

Well this was a bit of a shock when the prices all totaled up for me lol I'm used to my nice 150.00 set limt, but this year and sicne last I've been buying parts of it. Kenshin Himura: 130.00 Okita Souji of the Shinsengumi 1st unit: 150.00 Random Geisha costume now dubbed Padme: 100.00 Edward Elric The FullMetal Alchemist: 145.00 Jedi Knight Hathor Kenobi: 406.00 I think part of the reason I wanted the Jedi costume so badly this year was due to the simple fact it reminds me of the men's Samurai/Japanese wear and it has 50 layers to wear with it so I'm going to be quite happy with this. ;D And you are right about the spending more on costumes then buying regular garments for everyday lol I'm content with my hand me downs, and my cheap KMART things. Now my sister on the other hand....She isn't happy unless you spend 300.00 on a name brand shirt with a logo on it. I could have got a great deal on Anime dvd's with that much or youmacon spending! lol Do you got pictures of the Elizabethian outfit? I'd really like to see it! That's reasonable, by the time I'd finished getting my boots redone until I was happy with the look & fit they were about $350 but I won't need another pair, of course I might get another pair someday anyway. I wasn't suggesting that was cheap, only that it is still a cheaper version of ultrasuede, which costs $20 and more per yard!
I've gotten really nice, 100% wool flannel for $8/yard. Makes the robe look very screen accurate as the robes for the films were made of wool.

I didn't see any wool, lot's and lots of fleece and nice slections of it for blankets, they had a perfect Obi-Wan robe color in the fleece but that wouldn't have worked lol

It picks up everything, and if you got a long haired cat like I do and a dog. Not the best idea in the world. I have a blanket made out of it and my cat sat on it once and it took me two washes and a lint roller later to get it off. I store some blankets in our spare room and I forget he goes in it to lurk around so he made it into his bed. why wouldnt it have worked?
