The only really qualifying factor I'm aware of is that it is black. some of the merchants who sell cloaks/robes do sell black ones as well.

see what I'm thinking is not the tunic and pants but a robe and a cloak. and what I'm looking for is a robe, like a very loose dress

Oh now that looks pretty.Looks VERY comfortable, it also reminds me of the graduation rodes dortoral students wear. If you look at the collar, the draping. All he needs is to close it and have a hood. :-) I like it's lines, and appears to be a velvet.

I don't doubt I can make that. If I've a lot of referance pics. Front, back and side views plus your measurments, I can make ya' one. The fabric looks like a penne' velvet, the sleeves MIGHT be lined.

How about we get the definitions straight.
Robe: A long, loose flowing OUTER garment Cloak: A cloak is a type of loose garment which is worn over indoor clothing. Tunic: indoor clothing, can be knee length, or go down to the floor.
Im guessing what you are calling a robe..*since you describe it as a loose dress* you mean tunic or gown. Look at any site with SCA stuff. They have all types of sewing patterns you can find for simple tunics and such.
And since this is the JEDI Assembly, no black cloaks here.. Unless we're playing our alter ego..but you cant use it for membership.

Trayer As long as you aren't planning on joining the Jedi Assembly with said black costume, we don't care what you wear. And don't worry, nobody thinks you're a Jedi. If you want some good info on sith costumes, maybe you could try the 501st forums? They might have a section dedicated to Darth Maul/Sith costumes. Anyone have a link she could use?

Unfortunately, the 501st boards are a paradox for people looking for costume advice. You have to be a member of the 501st to join the boards, but you have to have a costume to be a member.
