I got a response from her last night that said she could use a Tropical Wool. So I am curious as to if it will look the same in terms of drap and flow hen I wear it. Has anyone else ever used this type of wool before? On the fabric glossary www.cloakmaker.com/fabric_glossary.html it is listed as Tropical Worsted Wool. If anyone has any insight into this fabric I would appreciate it. I orded a fabric sample too.

She mentioned to me that there a couple of kinds. She's doing the heavy for me because I live near Chicago & it's getting a bit colder here. There is another light wgt wool but I honestly don't know anything about it. I think she said 1 of type of wool was called wool triacolite(not sure of the spelling) a light wght wool.

Medium weight melton? I suppose it's possible. There are all kinds of new fabrics out there.
And if I lived in Chicago, I'd have a melton wool robe, too. That wind is COLD in the winter.

I am awaiting a fabric sample of the Tropical Wool right now. If it is something I like then I will probably be ordering a robe from her in that style. My main problem is that Melton Wool is so heavy, but a medium weight is something to think about. Time to spend a day in the fabric store again. Haha.

there are alot of weights of wool fabrics, I love to use wool flannel but that's just a personal preference. The plus of wool is it actually breathes beautifully. Unlike polyester or other synthetic fabrics you can get away with wearing wool for a god amount of the summer seasons. (Example being the crazy people who re-enact civil war things in the wool costumes).
I hope you have good luck with the people that you have found with the for making the robes. Since Dave and I disassembled saberbelt.com my robe making has been limited, but I may be getting things back up and running again in the near future. If anyone is interested, let me know and we can work something out. I'd be happy to start sewing again....

I just got my new robe from them today. I've only had a chance to peek inside the package because other things had to be done 1st. It looks like it's carmel color or whatever color Obi-Wans robe is--I'm excited about wanting to get it out & try it on for the 1st time. I'll know more a little later. I know the way my mystic merchant robe was folded I didn't think it was going to be great, but I was very impressed so I'm hoping this robe will impress me as well. Yes it was a bit pricey but it is wool & it arrived earlier then I expected. I will let you know & eventually have a pix of it.

I finally got a chance to wear my new Cloak & Dagger brown wool robe for the 1st time this last weekend. I was in Madison, Wis & found it kept me nice & warm, it felt very comfortable & easy to handle. I had measured my other robe so that I could get good measurements for this one. They sized it almost perfect. I just had to hem the robe 2 inches. I felt for safety sake I didn't want to be dragging too much on the ground. I've had people step on the back of my other robe too much, it would throw me off balance. Here is the link to my new robe. www.picturetrail.com/gallery/view?p=999&gid=8754704&uid=4017369&members=1

I have only gotten to wear my new wool robe officially 3 times. This last Sunday I had a deep appreciation for having a wool robe on. Normally I don't put my hood up but on Sunday each time I went outside the hood went up to keep my ears warm & it really helped when I could wrap my hands in the sleeves. Lightsaber hilts can get mighty cold when it's in the 20/30's. The robe kept me mostly warm but of course I did have several layers on--something you would definitely not do in summer.
