The robes in the pictures look fine and they're asking all the right questions to get measurements so it will fit right. Their prices are perhaps higher-end, but for custom work, they're fairly average. Sorry, I haven't heard of them before.
Now I know why I learned how to sew and got a good machine. I only have to pay for materials.

Sometimes I am tempted to get a sewing machine. But at the same time I don't really have the time for something like that so I am pretty sure I am going to buy.
I'm looking for a really acurate Obi-Wan robe, and that's the best I have seen so far.

For an all-wool robe that's actually not a bad price. Wool ranges from $12-$60 yard and I use around 10 yards for a Jedi robe.
And yes, that is a 6-0 in the second price. Wool cashmere runs that much.

Well I tried emailing her but it keeps getting returned to me. There is a phone number on the site, so I think I may try calling her. That or sending her some snail mail. I am not concerned with it being expensive because it's wool, I am concerned with the fact that I have never really looked at wool up close so I am still curious as to if it is going to kill me of heat stroke in the Phoenix, Arizona heat.

It will kill you in Phoenix heat... especially Wool Melton...
but honestly....you don't always have to actually wear your robe...quite often I costume events and leave the robe home....
sometimes it is just too hot no matter what the robe is made of....and other times in the cold weather when the robe is nice to toss on.....

You haven't looked at wool up close? There are a couple of things you could do for that and get an idea of what you'll be getting. Go to a thrift store and look at the jackets, pants, men's and women's suits. Some of thsoe will be made of wool--the label will say what they're made of. Coats will be made from fabric that is too heavy for a robe. For a more accurate look, denverfabrics.com will sell fabric swatches for $1 each (plus postage); with that you'll get the weight of the fabric; they're good about putting labels on their swatches. Or if you don't want the swatches, they have pretty good close-up pics of their fabric online.

Well I am still trying to get ahold of the people at Cloak Maker. I think I will just see what alternatives they have to Wool. Maybe a thick cotton for now and then a wool robe later if I don't like the look of whatever I go with first.

I may call them. I'd like to get a wool robe made for the midwest. I was just wondering what kind of wool that they used.

They actually have a pretty long list on their site of the fabrics they use for any costume. www.cloakmaker.com/fabric_glossary.htmlMy email finally went through when I sent it the other night. In her reply she told me about a tropical wool she uses which she says acheives pretty much the same billow and flow while still breathing well enough not to kill me from the heat. I emailed her back and asked her about f it still looks acurate to the movie robes to have the tropical wool. I am awaiting a reply but rest assured I will keep you posted!

I just ordered one in the Obi-Wan style. I needed a wool robe for our cold weather here near Chicago. I'll let you know how I'll like it. They said they make it out of melton wool so we'll see.

I will. They have a Qui-Gon/Mace Windu style already done but I didn't think I could handle the extra long sleeves. Prices are bit higher then I'd like but it's melton wool after all & with winter coming on I'll need it for the costume.
