Has anyone used fleece for thier robes. Here in florida wool is too hot to wear. Fleece looks like it has a nice texture and is very soft. Seems like a really good subsitute for wool.

I made a robe from fleece and it is very warm. I wouldn't wear it in Florida. A lightweight wool would work better I think.... like a wool/cotton blend. This is what I do--- I go to the fabric store and pick up bolts of potential robe fabric. I feel the texture and the weight of it and unroll some of it so I can see how it drapes. Then I decide if it will be comfortable. Half the time I'm not even sure just what the fabric is made of... I'm no expert with names of fabrics. Hope that helps!

If you are in a warm place, it is best to stick to natural fibre fabrics, they will breathe much better and wick the moisture away from your body. The desert peoples of the middle east mostly wear wool, try a lighter weight. Better yet, use a nice cotton or linen, brushed cotton flannel also looks good, but is not as warm as wool. Fleece is made to be warm, and usually is, even though light in weight.
