For my cloak I got 8 yards of Mole Skin. I looked around at the fabric place and everything else was icky or jut didn't breathe the way I wanted it. So this caught eyes. 9.99 a yard, but it';; be worth it in the end. Mole skin?

Yep, I was the same way when I was reading what the fabric was called.
It's what I was looking for, it's got a nice texture to it and flows and breathes. I'll get pictures of it when we get to the cloak and actually work on it.
Grandmother is making it, and I mainly help her out with laying things out and pinning.(I'll be glad once she teaches me how to sew myself)

MoleSKin fabric is kind of like ultra suead but cheaper. It'd make a very nice over robe. I saw a Jedi at Star Wars Weekends who had a BEAUTIFUL dress made from Moleskin in a style after Master faye in the comics.

I would be suprised if it breathes, though, since it is 100% polyester. Polyester does not breathe. Breathable fabric is natural: cotton, wool, linen, silk.

Guess I'll have to see for sure once it's complete lol, I have to now go in the morning and buy two more yards. It would seem I missed the extra part to add on for the cloak bottom. I wanted a bit of a long train to it anyway, next time I'm listening to the nagging voice in my head about buying extra fabric lol

I need to still make mine for the AdCon in June. All I know is that it has to be a "light", breathable fabric, because I have a feeling it's gonna be warm there.

i originally thought that raw silk wouldnt look right for a robe, but looking at starfire's robe, i am impressed, ill be looking into that myself. That robe is gorgeous.

I think that raw silk would make a great robe, especially in a heavier weight in a brown. I've seen some a couple of times that would have made incredible robes, but didn't have a need or enough spare cash to get it at the time, when the time is right, I'll do it, right now I have a natural coloured silk wool blend, a lt weight wool in med. brown and a heavy brushed cotton flannel to make robes from for myself as well as the very dark brown heavy cotton robe that I already have. But I love raw silk, so some day, one day........

Actually, raw silk, or silk noil can be quite reasonable in price, especially for buying online, $4-6/yd. A lot of silk comes from China (duh!) so the prices have been relatively low for awhile. However it's alwys narrow fabric, so you do have to buy more, especially for a robe.
A silk robe could be a good choice for wearing in wram weather.

with how thick the whole costume, it would be good for both warm and cold weather.

Oh, my, yes. I'm not making a robe, but I still like looking through fabric....
Brown Twill Wool
Brown Wool Suiting
Khaki Wool Suiting
Beige Wool Suiting
Light Brown Wool
Brown Flannel Wool Tweed
Gold/Ivory Silk Wool
Gold Textured Wool
Taupe Textured Wool
Brown Wool Flannel
Brown Wool Twill
Brown Wool Stitching
Beige Wool Gab
Tan/Beige Wool
Beige/Taupe Wool
Dark Tan Wool Flannel
Heather Sage Wool
Heather Brown Wool
Bronze/Ivory Wool
Brown/Beige Wool
Honey Wool Sateen
Sand Wool Gab
.....etc.
There's still more, but you get the idea. They are all $7.95 a yard, which is a good price for wool
Searching for "Brown Wool" or "Tan Wool" or "Bronze Wool" or "Taupe Wool" or whatever color you're looking for will thin out the number of fabrics that you have too look through.
DON'T ever make a robe out of this stuff, but the description is unintetionally funny:
Brown Felt
Brown Felt Fabric is made from the finest acrylic fibers, which gives the look and feel of more costly wool blends. Easy to sew or glue, with no raveling edges Suitable for all Fashion, Home Decor, and Craft projects: 100% Acrylic 72" Wide Machine Washable
Well, I'm certainly glad that they didn't make it out of any of those not-so-fine acrylic fibers.
