For those who have to have a wool robe though you could go with the tripical wool which is worsted to be far thinner but still drape realtively the same.

Mine is a tropical weight wool.....and the flow is fantastic....
I knew that it was 100% wool...and lightweight..but at the John Willams Concert...I asked our fabric guru....and she called it "tropical weight"....I really love it!

Leda Em-Borr, I have some pics on my site of my raw silk robes. It's the texture that makes it so nice. It's got that rough sort of fuzzy look to it, but it's also so soft www.starfirephoenix.net/jedialison.htm

Thank you Leda I could take a photo of my hood pattern if you think anyone would find it useful Thanks Jayden My boyfriend made my saber, and I love it! I can duel with it too, although I need to repaint it, as it's now covered in red paint from duelling against a red saber. lol

I really like fleeces for making robes. This is what I always use now. It drapes and flows very nice. It aslo has the fuzzy look like in the films

I have 2 robes, both made of flannel. The first (lets call it robe A) I got online, and the other (lets call it robe B) I made with the help of my Mom. (We chose the fabric ourselves)
Pilling: Robe A did. Robe B did not. Static cling. Robe A a little. Robe B not at all. Curling: Robe a a little bit. Robe B not at all. Picks up everything (lint, fur, etc.). Robe A a lot. Robe B hardly any.
I admit Robe A kind of sucks, but Robe B rocks. Robe Be looks, and moves like the reel thing. I'm sorry gang, but I hate Twill. It's too. stiff, wrinkles badly. and is just too thin for my taste. I say if you can't afford Wool, get a really good flannel. Maybe get a small piece first, and put it through some testing first, if you like.
I also love leeces, but the back on the good stuff can be silky, and make it slip off you shoulders, so keep that in mind when you make the robe.

I made a robe out of cotton twill. It's stiffer than wool, but that turned into an asset. I made a large, long pocket on the inside flap big enough to put an FX sber into. Because of the stiffness, it doesn't show much if I'm holding the robe, and it's nice to be able to put it somewhere.

Wow... Your costume looks well done. Those are fantastic picture too.
You went to a wedding in your Jedi costume? Was it a Star Wars themed wedding?

Thank you The wedding was a very last minute thing. Our fan force was approached by someone at the christmas pageant whose friends were getting married. They wanted two jedi at their wedding to escort the bride and to also make an archway for her to walk through. So a couple of us went along and it was great. It was a total surprise to all their friends and they loved it!

For my cloak I got 8 yards of Mole Skin. I looked around at the fabric place and everything else was icky or jut didn't breathe the way I wanted it. So this caught eyes. 9.99 a yard, but it';; be worth it in the end.
