Phoenix textiles currently has merino wool on sale for $6.26 per yard. The sale only lasts until Monday 7/28. Merino is a very good quality wool and this is 100% , 60" wide. This is a VERY good price. There are a couple of brown shades that would be good for robes:

Also included in the sale is a 100% cotton shirting khaki (58" wide) for $2.07 per yard, which might be acceptable for tunics.

Not on sale is wool coating, which is a heavier weight but there are good shades of brown at $9.95/yd

AND, there is lightweight wool crepe for $9.95 but no dark brown. There is cream, though.

As a point of info, they have linen at a decent price. Linen is my favorite for tunics:

So, if you buy, only buy medium or heavy weight. And "hanky weight" is very sheer, so avoid that, too. Right now they don't have a good selection of traditional Jedi colors, though.
For those of you who haven't used Phoenix before, I can vouch for them. I've bought most of my fabric, especially the 20 yard lots, from them over the past several years. Excellent, reliable service. I'm buying 10 yards of the toffee brown Merino wool. And I'll be washing it....my experience is that wool can be washed, it doesn't have to be dry cleaned. As long as you wash the fabric BEFORE sewing the garment, it can then be washed in future.
